| Umrao Jaan’s music released in Mumbai | |
Eishita Chaturvedi Monday, October 2, 2006: (Mumbai): The most anticipated film of the year, J P Dutta's Umrao Jaan took another step closer to release. The music launched on Saturday night at Mumbai's Hyatt regency by Lata Mageshkar. And even though Abhishek Bachchan was missing, the Big B and the lady in white made up for the absence singing praises for the film's music along with co-star Shabana Azmi. “I absolutely love the music of this film, as I said earlier this is my dream come true to work in a movie like this,” said Aishwarya Rai. Naturally, the director was also talking about the music and the controversy around the story in the film. Not to be outdone, the music director and the lyricist had their own take. “It is a story from the 19th century being told in the 21st century, so it had to be kept in mind that it has the flavour of the 19th century music but it should have the sensibilities of the 21st century,” said Javed Akhtar, lyricist. “This has been a tough challenge. I worked diligently night and day to create this song,” said Anu Malik, Music Director. But it wasn't just about the music. The leading ladies also talked about their roles. “It is a very passionate story. The story is a dedication to the girl child of the era,” said Aishwarya. Remake or original, JP Dutta's Umrao Jaan has already generated enough interest and hype. One of the most eagerly awaited films of the year, it's set to release on November 3. |
