Come June and Abhishek Bachchan and his new bride Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be returning to work for two different Sarkars.

Two to tango

While Abhishek joins Rani Mukerji for Pradeep Sarkar’s Laga Chunri Mein Daag, where he plays his real mother Jaya Bachchan’s screen son-in-law, Aishwarya will start work on Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar 2 with the Bachchan men, thereby putting to rest all speculation about her continuing to work after the much-hyped wedding.

Ash gets busier

In fact, far from giving up on work, Ash will be busier than ever this year. After completing Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodha Akbar, she will be starting several new projects beginning with Ramu’s sequel to Sarkar, which takes the desi Godfather saga of the Nagre family further down the road to perdition.

According to sources, “Aishwarya’s dates are confirmed for Ramu’s project. She has, in fact, the most important role in the sequel. While the senior Bachchan becomes a shadowy figure in Sarkar 2, the new godfather played by Abhishek Bachchan looks to his wife as the power behind the family throne in Sarkar 2.

Work is also on for the grand concert tour that the three Bachchans are undertaking in the middle of 2008.”

Interestingly, Mr Bachchan plays Ash’s father-in-law in her first post-marriage assignment, Sarkar 2.
