LG slams back newspaper reporter over the Bachchans
Tuesday, March 11, 2008 - Industry News Network

It appears even reputed news publications like Economic Times are prone to disrepute at times. In recent weeks, a series of articles appearing on Economic Times under bylines of reporters Sonali Krishna and Omkar Sapre, had falsely reported on the lack of interest from endorsement companies for Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan respectively.

In fact, in an article dated Feb 28, 2008; Omkar Sapre in Economic Times reported that LG wasn't keen on signing Abhishek Bachchan and was planning to 'drop' him due to box office .

However the truth it appears is something else. Not only were the Korean company representatives keen on signing Abhishek Bachchan, they sought to contract Bachchan to endorse LG's entire line of products highlighting their cellphone brand. However since that conflicted with the Motorola endorsement Abhishek Bachchan already was committed to, he decided to opt out of the conflict of interest.

It appears the Economic Times reporter didn't bother to contact the relevant authorities at LG and mischaracterized the terms of parting for Abhishek Bachchan from LG, and published the article stating LG was 'dropping' Jr. Bachchan.

This prompted a troubled Managing Director of LG himself to write a letter of apology directly to Abhishek Bachchan, rebuking the ET article reporter for false journalism in a national newspaper. The letter has been obtained by our sources and reproduced below.

However such gap between the reporting and facts seem to affirm what sources in the industry claim; that newspapers like Mumbai Mirror, Mid-Day and a few online newsportals have certain writers who may be deliberately planting such negative and false stories on the Bachchans in recent months.

Hello All,

Changed the home page... to signify Abhishek's Birthday!
Wish him the very best in the future... Hope he has a award filled year
for Guru... cos no one deserves it more than he does!

Preeti has been trying to get in touch with Rosie Singh... but Abhishek
was not in town for his birhtday so nothing worked out.. Also this year
they did not celebrate his birthday cos of his grandmother's sad
demise.

We just have to be patient all over again i guess... but that end
result is great!

Well.. sorry for the late change... but as they say better late than
never!

Cheers...
Neetu

Hai friends,

The year 2007 had gone. We saw a number of good films this year.  Some of  them were very good in their content & message, some of them were good as time-pass.  The films loved by both audiences & critics were Guru, Chak de India, Taare zameen par, Dhammal, Parzania, Jab We Met, Om Shanti Om, Cheeni Kum,,Jhony gadaar, etc.Out of the performance this year, the CROWN  must go to Abhisheak Bachchan for his Splendid performance in the film GURU. None of the Actor can Performs like he did in GURU. Acting Range of  Abhisheak Bachchan can clearly seen in the film. Guru was the film were every aspect of the film was top class, Whether it is performance, script, direction, camera, art direction, choreography, music, lyrics, Make-Up, every thing. So friends here comes the time  to vote  for Abhisheak. This year every Best Actor award must go to Abhisheak because of the simple reason that he deserve it, no one else. I hope GURU will be top in the list of award wining films. So friends keep vote for abhi in every nomination. Wishing ABHI all the best for his future projects, We are eagerly waiting for your future realases, DRONA, SARKARRAJ,DILI 6 & Karan Johar's Next.

Aamir Khan offers condolences to Amitabh Bachchan
24th Dec 2007  13.38 IST
By ApunKaChoice

Aamir Khan had been trying to meet Amitabh Bachchan for many weeks. But he could not have anticipated that the meeting would happen in such circumstances.

On Sunday night, Aamir and wife Kiran Rao visited the Bachchans’ residence Prateeksha to offer their condolences on the death of Amitabh’s mother Teji Bachchan, who passed away last week after prolonged illness.
Reportedly, Aamir headed straight to the Bachchan residence after returning from Delhi where he had gone to promote his latest film
Taare Zameen Par .

A few weeks back, a verbal tiff had broken between Aamir and Amitabh after the former criticized Big B’s film
Black and called the superstar’s acting in it “over-the-top”. Big B had responded to Aamir in a similar vein and said that his performance perhaps went “over the top of his (Aamir’s) head”.

Aamir had been seeking a meeting with Mr. Bachchan for many weeks to clear the misunderstanding, but the superstar has been too busy to spare time for Khan.

And when they at last met on Sunday night, there was no discussion about the tiff. Aamir and Kiran expressed their condolences and spent some time with Big B. They stayed at the bungalow for about an hour.

Just a day back, even
Vivek Oberoi paid a visit to the Bachchans. Vivek hugged Abhishek Bachchan and offered his condolences.

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan¢s mother Teji Bachchan passed away on Friday. She was 93. Teji was ill for the past many months.
After she was hospitalized in November, the Abhi-Ash wedding was brought forward as doctors had not given her much time to survive. The wedding was thus a very private affair.

Abhishek Bachchan gets serious, literally!

Hindustan Times
Mumbai, December 19, 2007

A spy from the Drona unit informs that Abhishek Bachchan seems to have sobered down post his marriage.

During a recent schedule in Jaipur, Junior B was nothing like the brat who had played pranks galore during the Bikaner stint last year.

Junior was completely focused on his work and didn't go around banging on the doors of unit members while they were sleeping. Dunno if it had anything to do with the movie being delayed by almost a year. He got all mushy though when biwi Aishwarya dashed down towards the end of the schedule.

We don't know how well he managed to play the superhero in front of the camera.. with all that excess baggage (read kilos) he's lugging around.. but he certainly played the doting hubby to perfection, oblivious to the interested audience around.

Really now, what an attention seeker!

The night Abhishek and SRK bonded
Monday, December 17, 2007  23:56 IST

Inside story

Riteish Deshmukh’s birthday bash on December 16 saw most of his Bollywood friends turn up. The seniors were not invited so it was basically a gathering of the young and restless. “The oldest in the group, I think, was Shah Rukh Khan. Riteish’s dad was also missing,” our source said.

However, the highlight of the party was the fact that Shah Rukh and wife Gauri were seen bonding with Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. So much so, that the two couples almost spent the whole evening chatting with each other. Just why this comes as a surprise is that SRK and Ash have not really been on great terms and moreover, the entire Bachchan family seemed miffed with King Khan. However, this was a night when all the alleged animosity seemed to have melted away.

Later the same night, Abhishek and Ash burned the dance floor when ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ songs were played and then SRK joined wife Gauri on the dance floor when ‘Om Shanti Om’ songs were being played.

Gauri, however, did not restrict herself to one or two songs — she danced through the night along with designer Sabina Khan, Kunal Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Neelam Kothari, Bobby Deol and his wife, Tanya. DJ Suketu was spinning at the party. The only couple who stayed away from the dance floor and seemed entirely caught up with each other were Arjun Rampal and Meher Jessia.

Abhishek kills neighborhood criminals
By IndiaFM News Bureau, December 18, 2007 - 17:05 IST

With the New Year just around the corner, the market will be flooded with calendars of various sizes and shapes. This time, it's not just sizes and shapes, but also cool concepts as well. Subi Samuel and Marching Ants have started the calendar-mania with all the Bollywood stars striking a 'comical' pose! Their vision of 'Visual Wizardry' will be showcased in their calendar which will feature 24 of India's celebrated movie stars which will be unveiled by none other than Karan Johar and Priyanka Chopra today.

Each actor in the calendar is featured as a comic character. Abhishek Bachchan's character is called as Sam who is a writer by profession. And mind you, being Sam was not an easy task. Since his wife, was pregnant, he just doesn't want to move anywhere without her. This is what she had insisted for! And when she wanted to be amidst 'goon town', the big city's most notorious neighbourhood, Abhishek wants her to be safe from all the possible dangers. But as luck would have it, his wife and unborn child get shot by accident in a drive by shooting.

Abhi tries every possible effort to look for justice, all including the legal system, from the local politician et al. He is not able to digest the fact that the killers are roaming freely without a care. Hence, he drowns in the ocean of sorrow and solitude for days together. And then, he simply picks up a pen to write a story about his life. And lo! He goes out and hunts not only his wife's killers but also all those who were part of the same breed. And every night, his pen would be dipped in the blood of the culprits, would write pages for him.

The city had destroyed him, its laughter resonating….but the city's nightmare was only just beginning.

PS: This calendar happens to be a limited edition and will be distributed strictly through private circulation.

Abhishek Bachchan in Taare Zameen Par
By IndiaFM News Bureau, December 18, 2007 - 14:34 IST

Taare Zameen Par is a story of a kid suffering from dyslexia. To create awareness about this disorder an example of Abhishek Bachchan is used in the film, who also suffered from this disorder. Aamir Khan took prior permission from the Bachchans to make this reference and use Abhishek’s name and picture as an example of success in spite of suffering from dyslexia at a young age.

Abhishek is among the crème de la crème of Bollywood today. The disorder did not stop him from creating a place for himself in the film industry and become a successful star. That’s the message Aamir gives to the kids in the film. Like Abhishek, many known personalities fall in this category, which include the likes of Leonardo Da Vinci, Thomas Alva Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Winston Churchill, Keanu Reeves, Albert Einstein and Tom Cruise.

Dilli 6 shoot starts in Jaipur today
By Subhash K. Jha, December 20, 2007 - 11:24 IST

Rakeysh Mehra's long-awaited Dilli 6 finally begins shooting today, December 20, in freezing Jaipur. Freezing cold notwithstanding, Rajasthan is currently the hot spot for two big film units from Mumbai.

While Rakeysh Mehra is busy recreating vignettes from New Delhi in Jaipur for his new film Dilli 6 with his lead pair Sonam Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan, debutant director Ajit Pal is busy shooting dramatic sequences in Jaisalmer for his cricket film Victory.

But Harman Baweja and the 'cricket' team aren’t shooting cricket scenes in Jaisalmer. The game part of the narration has been canned in Mumbai. “We’re shooting heavy-duty dramatic scenes in the freezing cold, and that too at nights when the temperature in below-Zero," informs Anupam Kher, who plays Harman's father.

Earlier he was shooting in equally harsh weather in Kashmir for Santosh Sivan. Anupam is all praise for Harman. "He reminds me of Hrithik Roshan, not just in looks but also in attitude and approach to his work. Like Hrithik, Harman has assisted his father on several productions. When he faces the camera he knows exactly what he's doing." Harman would be the first of the major debutants in 2008, and that too from a film family followed by Mimoh whose dancing skills are being compared with his father Mithun Chakbraborty and Subhash Ghai's new discovery Anurag Sinha who’s being described as a mixture of Amitabh Bachchan and Naseeruddin Shah by people from the unit of his debut film Black and White.

Aamir praises Abhishek?
19 Dec 2007, 0000 hrs IST,TNN

There is full sequence in Aamir Khan’s upcoming Taare Zameen Par in which Abhishek Bachchan is praised as one of the hottest stars in the country.

The reference is made in terms of him being one of the most successful stars and how he has created ‘Dhoom’, overcoming the reading difficulties that he had during childhood (dyslexia).

“Aamir Khan, who plays an art teacher in the film, points to a photograph of Abhishek Bachchan and tells a kid, ‘ Aap toh inko jaante hain, inhe bhi padhne mein problem hota tha, lekin dekho aaj duniya mein Dhoom Machaye hue hain ’ (All of you know him. Even he had a reading problem but look at where he is today) The entire class starts singing the song from ‘Dhoom Macha le’ after that,” says a source who watched the film at one of the film trials. Aamir took special permission from Amitabh Bachchan before using the actor’s example in his film.

When contacted, Abhishek Bachchan said, “Yes, Aamir has taken permission from us before using my name and photograph in the film.” Other famous dyslexic people include Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Alva Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Winston Churchill, Keanu Reeves, Albert Einstein and Tom Cruise.

Abhishek Bachchan in Taare Zameen Par

Taare Zameen Par is all set to release on December 21 and marks the directorial debut of Aamir Khan.

View Laga Chunari Mein Daag Movie Stills

Unlike certain sections of the media, who are trying to portray LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG, as an Abhishek Bachchan starrer, it is clear that the actor is there only for an extended cameo. In fact, he has a screen time of only about 25-27 minutes, which includes two songs. The role though was extremely essential to the plot of the hard-hitting movie.

But we are not here to tell you the obvious. The hot 'n' happening Bachchan Junior has finally decided to make public the reason for being a part of the loss making Yash Raj project. He says that even though he was not convinced about the commercial viability of the movie, he agreed to be a part of the project at the request of his good friend Aditya Chopra.

Well, we don't blame Aditya for trying to add Abhishek's star value to the woman-centric movie. And the normally diplomatic Abhishek Bachchan needs to be commended for his forthright views.

Goldie Behl's Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra starrer, the SFX extravaganza, DRONA has had quite a journey. The shooting commenced in Rajasthan, moved through Bombay's Film City to Namibia in Africa and has finally returned to the Rajasthan capital.

As per media reports from the Pink City, Abhishek Bachchan (essaying the title role of DRONA), reached Jaipur last Sunday itself, and was lodged at a resort. Later in the week, Abhishek shot for some horseback climax sequences, wielding a sword. His conflict was with the villain, Kay Kay Menon, atop a black horse, as opposed to Abhishek's white one! The shooting venue was the famous Sambhar Lake, situated towards Ajmer, some 90 kilometres west of Jaipur.

As may be recalled, Abhishek Bachchan is shown as having super natural powers and Priyanka Chopra plays his bodyguard in the film.
