The total was gettable. T-20 matches have seen far higher targets than this. But, Dravid’s Challengers tried hard to make 127 appear bigger than it was. The first wicket in their kitty was of opener James Hopes who was caught by White off  Zaheer Khan’s ball. Next man in,  Ramnaresh Sarwan played neatly and sensibly, he along with Shaun Marsh were carrying along a stable partnership till Praveen Kumar struck in the ninth over, when on a superb delivery by him, Sarwan handed an easy catch to Patil. Kumar appeared to be in full form, especially after his last match’s performance that got him the man-of-the match award. He aggressively hit again with his bowling prowess smacking out the next batsman, a crucial wicket of captain Yuvraj Singh. And, again Devraj Patil partnered Praveen in taking Yuvi’s catch.

The remaining inning was just a show of been there and done that when the task of reaching the total was left on the experienced campaigners like Jayawardene and Pathan. Both of them remained unbeaten on an identical score of 17 runs and finished the game in the nineteenth over of the inning, adding one more win to their tally of four wins.

Punjab kings XI won the toss and decided to field first.  On going to bat first, Rahul Dravid, captain of the Bangalore team said, “we’ll try and set up a good score, better than we did in the previous matches and we certainly have the bowling attack to defend them.”

Well Dravid's hopes came miserably crashing down as first three Challengers were out on duck.Virat Kohli and Wasim Jaffer opened the inning for Royal Challengers. Mohali's bowlers came down heavily on Challengers ruining their top batting order. Sreesanth released his bowling ire on the Royal Challengers in the match, way too early. He struck and he struck hard on the opponents, leaving no scope for the home crowd to cheer for Dravid’s team. Opening batsman Wasim Jaffer was the first to face Sreesanth’s bowling attack and was out on a duck. Uday Kaul caught him off the paceman’s fouth delivery of the first over. The next batsman was Cameron White, Sreesanth once again proved dangerous for the Challengers as he made sure White doesn’t stay for long. So, the next ball of the same over came with White’s name written on it. The ball crashed into the middle-stumps and the Australian batsman followed Jaffer, unable to release a single run..

This way of packing up batsmen became a pattern as the next man in, Jaques Kallis, also returned to pavilion on a duck. The South African all-rounder was simply unlucky as he ran for a run on a shot played by Virat Kohli on Pathan’s delivery. He got way too far from the non-striker’s crease, and Shaun Marsh took complete advantage of this, swinging the ball back to the bowler. Kallis was run-out, again on a duck. The scorecard by the fall of third wicket showed 15 for 3 in 3.3 overs.

Vijay Mallya, owner of Bangalore team could do nothing else apart from watching the inning with a dreary face. So, was the case for Katrina Kaif, official ambassador for the Royal Challengers, who didn’t find much opportunity to cheer.

In a 20-20 format, there isn’t much time for the team to dread over the fall of wickets. Recuperating from the losses so far, the onus to carry forward the run-making caravan for Challengers fell on captain Rahul Dravid, next to join the crease, with under-19 champion captain Virat Kohli. The two did play some beautiful strokes hitting them for boundaries, but soon the partnership witnessed one’s exit. Kohli had to make his way back, once again, courtesy Sreesanth, the only change this time was that Sreesanth was at his fielding best as he caught Kohli off Pathan’s delivery. The under-19 captain contributed a decent 34 runs off 36 balls.

With Kohli’s exit, Challengers’ wickets fell like a building. Misbah-ul-haq, came next to partner captain Dravid. The Pakistani batsman however, could not display much of a performance and was soon packed after making 8 runs, getting lbw on Piyush Chawala’s delivery. Chawala thumped again as he sent back the next batsman in line, Praveen Kumar on a duck. Devraj Patil was the next to come in and very quickly to go back. He was run-out on VRV Singh’s delivery and contributed 4 runs. Chawala was on fire, as he scooped out the next wicket in the form of Zaheer Khan, that too for a duck.
