Re: [IPRNG] Re: Zygogramma was tested on how many plant species?

I have no idea how many  species are growing wild in Karnataka. It must be in hundreds. Observations have been made on all parts of Karnataka on the feeding behaviour of this beetle. Dr Jayanth has made observations and he may be contacted. He is wrking in PCi,Bangalore. I will explore the possibility of contacting him.

Thanks Dr.Gautam for the information.

Please quote the source of information about forty test species. I
feel that it is very less number as Zygogramma tested on forty
species has been released in nature having thousands of plant and
insect species of economical value. Why researchers have not tested
it on as much as possible species?

quarantine conditions was done on 40 plant species. Out these, no
adult feeding oviposition or larval feeding were observed except on
Parthenium hysterophorus. Slight adult feeding was observed on niger
(Guizotia abyssinica) and jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum). Hope,
other experts will also be responding. In case Australian position
remains unattnded, let me know I will get back to you after recovery
from my ill health in order to reply this part.
