We have recently performed studies which suggest that
parthenum dermatitis is caused by both immediate and
delayed hypersensitivity.
Our submission has been accepted for publication by
the Indian Journal of Dermatology And Venerology.
We are now working on the hypothesis that this
dermatitis may be caused only by type 1 ie immediate
hypersensitivity and the delayed component is possibly
due to intermediate & delayed mediators liberated by
mast cells involved in immediate hypersensitivity.
