Renaissance was a mighty cultural movement that transformed Europe from the dark Middle age to the Modern age. Paulos Mar Gregorios Metropolitan calls for another renaissance for our world in his celebrated book, The Human Presence.
Malankara Orthodox Renaissance Movement is a movement of people who call for a renaissance in the Orthodox church of India. We do not believe that Orthodoxy is the same as static. Nor do we believe that we are supposed to preserve the baggage of all the out-dated and senseless traditions we inherited from our forefathers. On the other hand, we firmly believe that Orthodox Christianity needs to be a dynamic force that leads the entire human race in its growth and development toward the Kingdom of God. Not only should it lead the humanity, but also should it serve as a role model to the humanity. It should become the body of Christ in the true sense of the expression by being the visible form of the invisible Christ.
The Malankara Orthodox Renaissance Movement is the global extension of Akhila Malankara Orthodox Almaya Vedhi, an organisation that has been functioning for several years. We welcome all people of good will to join us--both men and women, both clergy and laymen. Let us pour before God our earnest wish for a renaissance in our church, let us prayerfully share our thoughts and feelings of how our dream can become a reality, and let us develop an action plan of what we can do.
