Hi all,
The RC Church in Germany issued a warning to Mar Severios Mushe Gorgun
"to grant Mushe Görgün and its projects no support at all."
(Kirchliches Amtsblatt, 15. June 2008). This warning was issued after
a request from Patriarch Zakka 1. The argument of RC Church is that
there is already a SOC archdiocese in Europe, hence the new one is
uncanonical.
Some questions:
1. The Patriarch ordained a Catholicos against law and canon, when
there already existed a valid Catholicos of the East. He ordained a
candidate who damaged the unity of the Church, without obtainign
permission from Catholicos of the East and his Synod.
This new Catholicos together with Patriarch ordained any bishops
creating parallel dioceses in Malankara. Are these dioceses canonical?
Why the RC Church in Kerala did not issue a warning to HB Thomas 1
against his divisive activities when he created parallel dioceses? But
the RC church was sending bishops like Mar George Punnakottil to
participate in the meetings of HB Thomas 1, including his faith
declaration meeting.
We need to know the opinion of Cardinal Walter Casper about this
extreme injustice!
2. Is the approach of Patriarch based on Christian justice? Why should
he approach RC Church against a brother in the Orthodox faith? Based
on Christian principles of justice how can he request something like
this when he is supporting the division and destruction of families in
Kerala? Any truth and justice seen here? Does he care anything about
human beings in Malankara Church?
3. I think the RC Church should study the situation in Kerala, in an
impartial way, and treat the German bishop at least similar to how the
RC Church treat HB Thomas 1 and the bishops of parallel dioceses
ordained by him and Patriarch. Otherwise it should be considered
height of injustice and great crime against ecumenism.
4. If these Western Churches do not treat us in a fair and just manner
according to Christian faith, is there any value in establishing
ecumenical relationship with them? The fact that these Churches
ruthlessly divided our people (and dividing us even now) is an
indication that they do not care for us or honor our identity and
existence. The denial of justice towards us and treating us at a lower
level in Christendom must be based on the pride and legacy enjoyed by
these western Churches.
sincerely,
Thomas
