Dear Believers,
Though I have read St.Augustine's treatment of `Original Sin', or the Roman
church's teaching, and st.Gregory's one book many years back, I don't remember
their treatment on the subject. What I have formulated my opinion on the topic
is this.
The Adamic sin was disobedience that was depleted by the obedience of Christ on
the cross and paved salvation for the soul, provided we don't commit any more
sin bodily by thought, word or deed, `karma papam' because the impact of the
first sin has deposited wastes in our body. The dawn of akedness,Gen.2: 25; 3:
6-7, the mother of all sins except for the role of the propagation of the
species, that preyed on the body by tasting the forbidden fruit still remain as
very virulent and overactive, Gen.3: 14-21. As and when the Son of God shed His
blood, the Adamic sin is deleted, but the reign of the body over the soul is
still a pain for any human being. The genetic traits continue dominating our
body system till the species is rooted out from this plane of life. Sexuality,
the first impact on the body, multiplied many other vices that all will have to
be bridled by our own will. The first sin that had dominion over our soul and
the body during the OT period is no more ruling over the soul in the NT period,
despite the aura of our `karma papam' cast stain on our soul. The net result of
the disobedience of the first commandment given by the Father is annulled by the
crucifixion of the Son, yet the Word Incarnate suffered for our body sake too by
His Passion that made an example for us to imitate His bodily life also. `My
mother conceived me in sin' statement by King David pertains to the soul and the
body of the OT period. This could be the reason for the departed souls of the
OT period found resting in a particular place under the earth, till the
First-Born walked into Paradise in the celestial arena, together with the
redeemed thief. "For this why gospel was preached to the dead, that though
judged in the flesh like men, they might live in the spirit like God", 1.Pet.4:
6; 3: 18-20. Death perpetrated upon the human soul till the blood of the Lamb
became a ransom for mankind.
It is a nonsense that some theologians say that the tree at the middle of Eden,
though by its enigmatic symbolism, meant sex that is at the middle of our body.
It is my understanding that sexuality had an under coating in the forbidden
fruit because man was wrought in the depth of the earth, Ps.139: 15, together
with the knowledge of the Devil because there was a letter of demand between the
angels of darkness, Col.2: 14-15, and light, the basics upon which man was
moulded. The devil claimed this earth as his dominion before the fall, hence a
just God gave freedom to Lucifer and Adam to be girded with the weapon of
freedom, and in case Adam was hijacked by the temptation, forbidden fruit, this
earth goes automatically to the prince of perdition, or otherwise God who can
never be defeated eventually destroy this earth that was meandered by the dark
forces also, while replanting His species in a different galaxy. Unless we
recognize this mysterious silent war between good and evil, God and Devil, all
our theological somersaults will become sterile and useless. The knowledge
between good, God, and evil, Satan, was the ingredient of the forbidden fruit.
Now our set home work is to wage a war against our body that nourish all deadly
sins, 1.Cor.9: 27, the waste bin of the first sin, and conquer it to show that
the weapon of sensuality that stand against the body is destroyed altogether and
start a new life in a sexless and senseless world of light and radiance.
