Dear Brotheren,
Let us not look in to things thro. microscope. It may backfire
In some conservative foreign states we do conduct religious activities where
it is punishable by law. Local police,as far as possible do not come in way.
In Gulf countries our Bishops come and collect money for religious
activities. This might turn a serious issue if a less tolerant person/s go
against it and take it to concerned.
It is a double edged sword
Thanks
Mathew
Dear all,
Syrian Patriarch visited kerala and conducted religious ceremonies
in churches and CM Oomen Chandy also attended certain functions.I
would like to bring into the notice of the memebers of this forum
and discuss the following issue.
>Patriarch came to kerala without the invitation of HH Catholicos
Bawa, which is the violation of both supreme court order as well as
the Orthodox canons.
>Patriarch has violated Indian immigration law, where a person
arriving on tourist visa has been prohibited from performing any
religious activities.
Inspite of our Bawa thirumeni's objection and plea oomen chandy not
only permitted Patriarch to enter Indian territory but CM himself
attend the functions presided by the Patriarch.
From above its clear that Oomen chandy has violated his oath as CM
and participated in an illegal foreigner's meetings.
Can any one tell me whether our church had brought these illegal
activies into the notice of Indian Govt. and has our church
leadership asked explanation from oomen chandy as member of
Malankara Orthodox Church?

Dear Moderator,
Let me introduce myself as Ajoy Jacob George. Originally from
Pathanamthitta and a member of St. Stephen's Orthodox Cathedral,

When I am reading some articles in the almaya veedi, I got a feeling
that it is a Patricrchis cacus with a Northern belt slip. Is it true.
I want to clear it as many of our church members has mentioned to me
that .
The ICON have more than 4500 members and why the MORM have only 142
members still. so it will be appreciable if you please disclose the
basic motivation of this group.
Sincerly,

Moderators' Note: MORM is not in competition with any other group. MORM and ICON
are both yahoogroups with very different orientation and purpose. ICON deal with
all aspects of the church and serves as a medium for all church memebers to

discusses here only topics that are of interest to Almayavedi. We encourage all
members of MORM to join ICON and other similar groups and participate in

The next -Malakara Suriyani Christiani Association should not for an
election like that happend in the last Bishops election, because
that was a shameful practice to the image of our church as well as
our spiritual life.
We cannot blame anyone for that because we did not find a suitable
way for the candidate to expose themselves to the assembly members.
the age limit that is proposing by someone is not a critaria for the
Bishop. We need spiritual leaders with dedication and we need also
strong leadership. Our church needs to decide to implement a system
of donating all the physical properties to the Church when anyone
ordinates as a Bishop of our church and should not allow to
participate in any business other than that of the Church.
We should not allow our Bishops to own any kind of personal
property.
We need to establish a good set up for the retirement life of the
Bishops as well as the priests who needs help for their retirement
life. without that arrangement we have no right to talk about the
retirement.
I do not understand what is wrong in Mar Mackarios to become as the
catholicos desiganate? The stories that made up by some people are
not true. H.G. only developre the outside diocese Delhi, America,
Canada & Europe. Whenever there was a necessity H.G. came to Kerala
and solved that problems with all H.G's capacity. From my knowledge
Mar Makarios Thirumeny is doing well in the tradition of the
Orthodox Church. Do not try to throw stones without knowing the
truth of anyone.
Once (when I were in the Middle East )some people objected to bring
one of our Bishops for passion week and the reason for their
objection was they belives some consprancy about that thirumeny. I
took the responsibility to bring the thirumeny and I informed about
this matter to thirumeny and my only request to that thirumeny was
to explain and clear their doubts about thirumeny and Thirumeny did
it. When thirumeny opened the story of the allegation that they
blamed on thirumeny and explained everything; after that the people
realized that they were wrong and they were satified and they
received thirumeny with their full heart.
At this time our church need a strong leadership. We got H.H. Mar
Didimos II and I believe Mar Makarios will be an asset if we get
thirumeny as our Catholicose designate.

The managing committee and the Holy Synod have called for the meeting
of the Malankara association to elect the Catholicate designate.
Our late H. Catholicos has permitted 4 Bishops from the Patricrchis
fraction to stay with us, who were not elected by Malankara ssociation
and one of the Bishops crossed the floor to Patriarchis fraction
again. Did those Bishops were approved by the Malankara Association? I
never heard about any approval of the same in the last two Association
meetings. Is there any plan or ajenda for the recognition of those
Bishops? If not it will be a legal issue in future.

Hello Brothers,
Malayalam news papers reported that the newly elected Orthodox MLA'S visited

Message from Thomas Chandy,Secratary,Akhila Malankara Orthodox Almayavedi
The Managing Commettee of the Malankara Orthodox Church has decided to call
for a meeting of the Malakara Suriyani Christiani Association to elect a
successor to the present Malankara Metropolitan-Catholicose.The laity should put
up their concerns and views in this matter, not leave it solely to the
association members. While the association is the proper forum to elect or do
what it deems fit,the laymen who are concerned with the affairs of the Church
should make their voices heard and Almayavedi is a platform for that.
Almayavedi is not interested in lobbying for any candidate-the lobbying is
already on.We believe that we should arrive at certain norms for the new
designate-not lobby for any candidate.
we invite the response of the members

Quite a few messages have been received from our MORM members regarding the
list of MLAs belonging to Orthodox Church. We would like to clarify as follows:
1.We published a list of candidates from both LDF and UDF who are
members of Malankara Orthodox Church, and who are aligned to the
faction of rebels-- Puthen Cruz society. In determining their allegiance to the
Church or Society, we have gone by their membership in the parish and the
predominent stand of the parish. That is the only verfiable fact to go by in
this case.
2.The orthodox Church and Almayavedi took a non-political stand in
the elections. The Catholicose as well as Almayavedi has made open
statements that this non-political stand will continue. It is the
individual's choice as to whom he/she should vote or support politically.
3.The question naturally would be "then why these claims and counter
claims?" As far as Almayavedi is concerned, the policy is that the
laymen should be encouraged by Church and related organisations to
achieve lofty positions in all walks of life.
4.Orthodox Church and Almayavedi have not declared that a certain
candidate should be supported or defeated. But individual members have exercised
their franchise taking into account all relevant factors.
Do hope the position of Almayavedi has been clarified.
Thomas Chandy
Dear all,
The communal/religious background of a MLA is an important factor
for deciding a candidate in Kerala.Unfortunately our church still
doesnot have a clear political stand. We declared that our church is
having an equal distance policy towards UDF OR LDF.
Thus in reality neither UDF nor LDF will support our church's
effortto implement court orders. Then there is no point in lamenting
or criticising infront of media persons when ruling govt is not
ready to implement court orders. What is the point in wasting our
precious resources as fees to supreme court lawyers when the court
order cannot be implemented.Even our ecumenical partners are
supporting Jacobites. They want our church to be fragmented.
Many of our people in Travancore are not concerned about the
pathetic situation of our brothers in Kochi or Malabar.
Our present Bawa Thirumeni is a pragmatist but there are some people
in our managing committee who are against H H in taking right
decisions.

The competition among the political parties to acquire the portfolio.
Is their any meaning to find out the fractional spirit of the
M.L.A's in Kerala? What is the benefit for the church if the MLA's
are Orthodox or Jacobite ?
It is a usual practice among the political parties, that all of them
are fighting to get good portfolios for their party to represent in
the Ministry. Dr. Babu Paul wrote an article about the importance of
the portfolio for the chief Minister and it was very informative.
The leading major party in the L.D.F. is Communist Party Marxist and
that made them to select the Chief Minister from themselves.
Unfortunately the internal fractional fight in the C.P.M. made their
decision to give the post of the Chief Minister to Mr. V.S.
Achuthanandan after long tricky games since the selection of the
candidature for the election.
When the L.D.F. won in the election then the coalition partners in
the L.D.F start to bargain for the portfolios but the C.P.M. showed
their regular attitude and tried to please the other parties with
left over portfolios and they forced to give some portfolios to the
C.P.I because they have 17 M.L.A's and the C.P.M. Cannot form the
ministry without them. If the C.P.M. may win more than 71 seats
alone then the game may be entirely different.
Why does the political parties fighting and competing for the
portfolios? Is there any portfolios good or bad? If the leaders are
obligated to serve the community and submitted themselves to the
people's wellness then why are they selecting to get some of the
portfolios. Some one likes to have the Home department, some likes
excise, some for the forestry, some for revenue, some others for
Public works, Education, Finance etc.
So the selection is not for offering a good service to the public
but it is based on the earning that they can make with the help of
the portfolio.
So the democracy in our country is re-defined, as "Democracy is the
system to loot the people for the gang by the gang with the gang."
In this system why do we worry to find out who are Orthodox and who
are Jacobites?
Charly V. Padanilam, Houston, TX.
Sir
So what is the truth? Who all (the MLAs) are from the Orthodox faction. The
Malankara Sabha Patrika carried pictures of MLAs from the Orthodox faction and
the Almayavedi a list.

Dear All,
Elections are over and some of the candidates of the United
Malankara Church(both factions put together) have won.
Now there is some confusion regarding which faction they belong to.
It is only they who can tell to which faction they belong.
Media is branding them as Jacobites and quoting them as they won
because of the patriarch faction votes.

http://www.geocities.com/malankaravoice11/news_section.htm
One thing is clear, the Left candidates in Kunnathunadu , Piravom ,
Muvattupuzha, and Kothamangalam constituencies have evoked the
sentiments of the Jacobites by using posters of the Jacobite
catholicos' hunger strike and the police lathi charge in Aluva church
to get votes.Such posters are widely seen in
Muvattupuzha/Piravom/Pallikara/Kothamangalam areas.
Even posters of the these LDF candidates receiving blessings from the
Jacobite bishops are also exhibited.Their election speeches had heavy
dose of the Aluva lathi charge and promises of a better deal.
If this is the case then whom will they stand for?
An exception is Saju Paul from Perumbavoor who has won because of his
Image and anti muslim votes.
As reported in Almaya Vedhi, Babu Paul is a member of Kunnakurudy
Orthodox Cathedral but currently he is attending a Jacobite church in
Trikalathoor.Monayee, is also currently attending a Jacobite church
near kizhakkambalam.
There is a correction in Almaya Vedhi's article.
T U Kuruvilla is not a member of Bethel Suloka but from Chelad Bes
Ania and his opponent was not P J Poulose but V J Poulose.
Lets accept them as members of the united Malankara Church rather
than associating them to a particular faction.
And all these candidates are from Ernakulam dist, but it is sad to
observe that the church failed to pressurise the left and right
fronts to field its candidates from districts like
Pathanamthitta,Alapuzha and Kollam which has a lions share of voters
from Malankara Church.
This is the result of the divided stand in our church, we have lost
the bargaining power.

IN THE SOUVENIR PUBLISHED BY PATHICHIRA YOUTH MOVEMENT CAMP IT SAYS, THERE ARE 7
MLAs BELONGING TO ORTHODOX FACTION & 2 TO THE 'PUTHENCURISH SOCIETY'
WHAT IS THE TRUTH ?
AFTER ALL IN WHAT WAY THEY ARE GOING TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE CHURCH ! EVEN IF
THEY, HOPEFULLY NOT THE CHANDIAN WAY.
LET THEM CONCENTRATE ON THEIR CONSTITUENCIES AND THEIR PEOPLE. THE CHURCH CAN
TAKE CARE OF ITSELF. LEAVE THESE MLAs ALONE.
The MLA from Piravam Mr. Jacob belongs to Jacobite Fraction. Mr. Babu
Paul from Moovattupuzha he used to go Trikalathoor Jacobite church a
member from our Kunnukuridy Cathedrel Mr. Rajagi Mathew, Mr. Jose
Baby, Mr. Saju paul, Mr. T.U.kuruvila, Mr. M.M. Monai,Mr. Raju Abraham
all are belongs to Jacobite Church

Dear Moderators,
It was very painful to read that one of our priest also filed a case
against H.H Bava Thirumeni's authority. Earlier, H.H Mathews II Bava
faced the same, but by the action of the Jacobite faction- we can
say a demand from an equally strong group. I believe 99.9% of the
MOC members accepts our H.H Bava's authority. Now that a few people
are unhappy with him, is it fair for them to bring this issue to
court, especially when the church is going through a tough time? It
is the time to strengthen the hands of H.H Bava Thirumeni and other
leaders. I'm not sure about the real intentions behind the court
cases. It's a relief that Almaya Vedi is whole heartedly supporting
H.H Bava Thirumeni so far. I would like to know whether Alamay Vedi
has any action plan so as to convince court that our Bava is
accepted by the vast majority of our members? It will be diastrous
if the court ask Bava Thirumeni to prove his majority. We should not
allow such a thing to happen again.
Let's pray for the church, leaders and those who working against the
church.

Moderators,
Bawa thirumeni holds administrative power over propoerties in the capacity of
malanakara metropolitan. And malanakra metropolitan shall be elected by
malankara association.H.H. was elected as catholicate designate.
Whether it is right to move this issue to court is another matter.

dear all
Fr.Gheevarghese and few church members have filed case in the
highcourt of Kerala to ban Bawa Thirumeni from administering church
properties as H H has not been elected by malankara association. This
incident shows the lack of discipline among some of our church
members. They may be supported by people like malayala manorama and
oomen chandy.
Can someone tell me why Catholicose should be elected by malankara
association when a synod exists.?

Dear All,
Nothing to worry about the factional fighting. OOmmen Chandy will have the
same fate as David. He is not going to be the C.M this time. As long as
personal egos exists in ones mind, the feud will be on whether it be UDF or
LDF. Forget about the religions look out, see politics, enterprises etc.
every place it is there. What can we do is to stay away from main stream
factions and stick to our basic faith & belief. This does not mean that
give all our churches to the other side. Poor people they do not know what
they are fighting for. But what we can do is to concentrate on creative
humanitarian work inside and outside the church. Give a challenge to these
evil doers and see what will happen. For eg.
1. Find out how many of our members do not have a proper church to worship
(inside kerala) ?
2. How many of the faithful does not have a proper place to stay ?
3. How many of our people do not have regular work ?
Concentrate on the above and draw out an action plan to fulfill it. Let our
great luminaries, the theologians, speakers of the church instead of
enlighting our poor mass about the secrets of Bible and History of Church,
let them teach them the simple basic teaching 'Love Thy neighbour, Thy
yourself'. Believe not me but in God, the people who have left us will
JOIN US including the ones who have joined the main stream churches. Can
Almayavedi take this challenge.

Trouble has started in churches in Kandanad diocese after the assembly
elections.UDF has opened some churches for political gains, even
bypassing court orders but the chances of a govt change has reinstated
church feud.Recently at Varikoli church factional fight occured.

Hi,
The latest editions of ALMAYA VEDI(Official Publication of Akhila
Malankara Orthodox Almaya Vedi)is not yet uploaded to the site.
Please upload it as your publications are revealing the truth related
to the chruch.
But one thing you are pointing all the bad things in the chruch which
needs immediate attentions.
But more importance has to given to the good/tough steps taken by
Catholoca Bava in Thrikunnath Seminary case and all. By this
publications let all the people in our chruch knows about the Didymos
Bava and actions towards chruch issues.
These are my suggestion only.
Thanks and Regards,
