"Shubho" - Radio Malankara - - A new venture of SOCM

Dear All

Barakmore / Shlomo

On the eve of our 8th birthday, SOCM-Forum is crossing another
milestone in its development, by adding another activity to its
operation. We have started an Internet radio named as "Shubho", for
those members who love to listen the beauty of the Syriac Orthodox
Worships, liturgical, traditional and special occasions songs, as
well as hearing spiritual messages. It will be officially broadcasted
from 10th September 2008.

In the Syriac Aramaic language, "Shubho" means, "Glory"

Psalms 150: 1-6 says

1: Praise ye the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary:
praise him in the firmament of his power.

2: Praise him for his mighty acts:
praise him according to his excellent greatness.

3: Praise him with the sound of the trumpet:
praise him with the psaltery and harp.

4: Praise him with the timbrel and dance:
praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

5: Praise him upon the loud cymbals:
praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

6: Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD.

These verses alone is our great inspiration for this project.

This project is initiated by SOCM-FORUM and it was a collective and
successful effort of our faithful from different parts of the world.
The mission of the team behind "Shubho" is to praise HIM and to
uphold the true faith of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, handed
over to us by our forefathers, as well as to make a platform for all
Syriac Orthodox Christians around the world to listen the beauty of
the Holy Syriac Orthodox Church worship. Our vision is to
take "Shubho" to new heights and to be the premier broadcasting
station of its kind on internet.

We are fully aware that the e-radio "Shubho" is presently in its
infancy and its further development and success will be entirely
dependent on your right feed back and encouragement. The test
broadcasting is now started on a 24-hrs basis, and you can hear it on
the following URL: http://www.radiomalankara.org . We request all of
you to hear the radio and give us your valuable comments about the e-
radio.

Also please support us by remembering this project in your prayers
and providing us more audio (MP3) recordings of Syriac Orthodox
worship, songs of different occasions and spiritual talks of our
prelates, clergy and church recognized lay ministers.

We submit this project for the ultimate glory of our Lord Almighty
and for the Holy Church.

Keep us also in your prayers,

In Our Lord's Love
SOCM Forum Moderators.

Dear Thomas Chandy,

Extremely happy to learn that you are a student of history. I am not and am only an economist

I957, in the annals of Kerala State is important as it is the year in which the communist party came to power for the first time and that too, by the election process. It was the election after the formation of Kerala State on 01-11-1956. They got a clear majority in the election. The ban on the party was lifted to fight the election. But those who had criminal cases against them, feared, that they may be arrested by the police if they come out. So they remained underground in the “eyes of the law and police”, even when they filed their nominations for the election. Mr. Balachandra Menon of Chittur- Cochin was such a candidate. He didn’t address a single public meeting to appeal to the voters. Still he got elected with a clear majority. There were many such cases.

In 1959 with the "Vimochana Samaram", the Govt. was forced out and after elections the first coalition Ministry came to power in Kerala, with Congress, PSP and Muslim League in the coalition.

The first public election was in 1954 after the formation of the Travancore –Cochin State. I was appointed by the Election Commission as a presiding officer in that. The next public election was in 1957 after the formation of the Kerala State I was then a lecturer gazetted officer in the Govt. College, Chittur. I knew Mr Balachandra Menon. I lived through all those happenings. I was also one of the presiding officers in that election in that constituency.  My students in the College and students of the nearby High School went around canvassing for Mr. Balachandra Menon. One of them is an MP and is in the CPI.

It is about this election that late Dr.R. Ramakrishnan Nair HoD of Politics, Kerala University wrote his PhD Thesis. I refer you to the Book. In the 1965 election, again communist party won and that was mainly as Mr. Chandy pointed out due to the infighting in the Congress. I hope this will make the matter clear.

Prof Joseph Alexander.

A True Disciple of Christ

Dear all

I do not know how many of you may have the patience and time to read
this lengthy story. This is the story of a middle class woman from
Kerala who became a true disciple (according to me) of Jesus Christ in
a remote village in Madhya Pradesh, but without telling a word about
Christ.

Last week I met a wonderful person. By the way I am currently in St.
Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary, Nagpur, completing a one month
teaching assignment, and this person came to give few lectures to the
mission students in the seminary. Her name was Ms. Mercy Mathew, a
middle aged woman originally from Palai, in Kerala. But now she is
called Daya Bhai by those who know her.
This is her story
She joined a convent in Kerala as customary for almost all Catholic
families in Palai. She was constantly been troubled by a question. The
question was, why there should be this gap between rich and poor, man
and woman, wise and not wise, high class and low class, haves and have
nots? This question about the gap between the same creations of God
bothered her a lot. There were answers from all quarters. Some said,
it is destined by God, some others said, it is the caste that decides
it, some said, nature is with diversity. But none of these satisfied
her. So she kept on asking this question for herself.
She then went to Mumbai for her MSW course. After the first year she
dropped out and went back to the convent. She was not happy there. She
worked with several charity organizations. She felt that most of them
did not really dealt with the question, rather only accepted the
status quo and worked within that framework. So she went back to
complete her course after eight years. While she was on a project she
happened to visit a village in the interior of Madhya Pradesh state.
There was a tribe which was once a royal tribe of the region. But all
in that tribe were poor and illiterate. Some of them received notices
from bank authorities and they could not read it. They approached her
to read it for them. They were recovery notices. It seemed they had
received loans from the World Bank for the developmental and
agricultural activities of the village. They remember that some
politicians and officers came to them some time back, offered them
loan for digging wells, constructing roads, buying fertilizers, cattle
and such things. But they were never told how to use the money and how
it will be recovered. They were told that the money comes from World
Bank. Since they were not experts in many of these areas, they used
the money as they liked and no development ever happened. Now they
have to pay the loan back.

Sr. Mercy decided to work with them. But they would not let her come
near them as she was an outsider and hence an untouchable. She would
be asked to sit in the corner of a house and no one would touch her or
any thing belonging to her. She says, "For the first time, I knew the
intensity and shame of being an untouchable" . She decided to become
part of the community. Her congregation of sisters was not prepared to
allow her do that. But the then Nagpur bishop accepted her as part of
his diocese and allowed her do that and gave her complete freedom
after she having explained him what she was trying to do.

She changed her style of wearing the sari, kind of food she ate, the
dialect of her language and the kind of life style she followed. She
worked with them in the fields for five rupees a day. She cooked the
same food they would eat and lived in a sort of make shift hut another
woman helped her make. Slowly they accepted her as part of their
community. Now she looks exactly like one among them. She is with
wrinkles all over her face, wearing several stone necklaces and
earrings, and skinny in the same kind of clothing.
She helped them deal with the government officers, politicians and
with officers of the bank. Thus she gained their confidence and became
part of the community. Seeing her dedication and love towards them,
the villagers asked her to become Sar Panch (panchayat president). She
resisted, but accepted the post of a member of the panchayat. She
worked with them for them to get decent wage, establish a school and
to do agriculture in a more profitable way. She has received several
awards and honors. Last year "Vanitha" a publication of Malayala
Manorama group honored her with "Woman of the Year" award. This year
she will receive an award from "Vigil India" movement, which works
among the backward communities in South India, established by Rev.
M.A. Thomas of Marthoma Church, (Dr. Siby Tharaka is the present
Director). She has worked with these people in Chinvada District of
Madhya Pradesh almost three decades. Now she is part of that community
and works for their welfare and freedom. They trust her. Few years
back she visited her father in Palai. Seeing her with some of the
teeth fallen from physical attacks she received during her life in the
village from land lords and their criminal associates (this she had to
face not once), and the wrinkles on the face and skinny body he asked,
was this much necessary? There was a picture of the crucified Jesus
Christ on the front wall of the house, she pointed at it and asked him
"was that much necessary"? He did not say a word (her father passed
away recently).
After all these, now her concern is, the way the young generation of
the villages is attracted by the modern life style they see on the TV.
She thinks her mission is not yet over.

Indianized Version Of Bible Hit Among Christians
Source: http://sify.com/news/fullstory.php?id=14714631

MUMBAI, INDIA, July 13, 2008: An "Indianized" version of the Bible released
in India has become a huge hit among the Christian community. The Bible has
proved to be extremely popular among the Catholics in Mumbai where over
15,000 copies were sold out within ten days of its release. An interesting
feature of this Bible is that it has drawn references to other religions
like Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism.

"What made it special was that they have also drawn the Indian mythology
into it. It's not only based on Bible and its foreign stories," said Corin
Mendonsa, a buyer of the book. Another interesting thing about the book is
that it depicts Mother Mary and other characters in typical Indian clothes.

According to the Catholic community this Bible is getting a good response
from the market. The new Bible, which has about 2,200 pages, costs just Rs
250.

On going through the postings of Milithos Thirumeni on the above subject, I have one question. What St. Paul wrote to Corinthians was at a time when the Church was just about taking its roots: hence the possibility of one of the partners in a marriage being a Christian and the other a non Christian could have been quite possible, But is that applicable now especially in the case of persons born and brought up in Christian families? In my humble openion, this can be acceptable only in cases where a non Christian becomes Christian and his/her spouse continues in another religion.

Again in St, Pauls direction it is not stated that the offspring should be brought up as children with no religion, but states clearly that they be Christians i.e. Holy.

I am not trying to link this to the controversial lesson in 7th Std text book, What is stated therein is the stance of a secular democratic State, But all that I am saying is that it is not right to draw parallel with the directions of St,Pauls to Corinthians.

Incidentally, I do not understand how Orthodox Church can object to the portions in textbooks which can be interpreted as pro-communist. The Sunday school text book of Orthodox Church teaches what Communism is, refer to the text book prescribed by Orthodox Sunday School association for classXI, Unit no3, lesson 11 .The contents of the text book is a very factual and objective analysis of the ideology, not a downright criticism. If a church text book can say so much how can the church behave like how a bull reacts to red colour when some distant correlation to communism is smelt in a secular text book!

I am afraid Mr.Joseph Alexander got facts wrong on the second posting also.Communist candidates were not in jail during 1957 elections,it was in 1965 elections that most of the CPM candidates faught the elections from jail and won.As aperson observing and analysing history,I have not come across any published doccument which attributes success of Communist partiy in 1957 toStudent wing.In fact in 50s and in 60s all leading student organisations pretended that they have no relationship with any political party, although the whole world knew which studentsunion was with which party.

Success of Communist party in 1957 was due to infighting in congress which saw repaeted topling of ministries in Travancore Cochin state, uprising of agriculture labourers who faced generationsof oppression from the fudel overlord, the dramas of Thoppil Bhasi like NINGAL ENNE COMMUNISTAKKI which was staged at hundredsof stages in Kerala,a younger and dynamic leadership with grassroot support,Pattam Thanupillais breaking away from Congress and joining PSP,formation of the State of kerala by adding Malabar which was in the state of Madras etc.To attribute it to students involvement in electioneering is an incorrect and oversimplification of facts. If anyone has reported that way to Congress highcommand they were ony misleading the HC

Dear all

I have seen several comments regarding my posting "on the Text Book

post. Some of them appreciative and some critical, some approve what I
said and some do not. But to my surprise, not many, both among those

issues I raised. This is depressing. I was not trying to make an
`official' or absolutist statement. I was trying to begin a healthy
discussion on the forum
On the few issues I raised. These are the ones I wanted us to discuss:
First, what would be our response to Paul' direction in 1 Corinthians
regarding wife and husband in two religions and children from that
relationship being called holy? If we accept that as some thing valid,
how can we Christians oppose to a similar comment in the 7th standard
text book? My second question was, if what happened in Egypt can be
interpreted in two ways, why not the other side of the story be
presented in the text book? My third question was how a narration of
an atrocity can create negative impact on people?

These are not essentially political questions to help any political
party. Some considered this position as politically motivated. I
refuse to accept it, because no one has really addressed the questions
put forward by me. In such case interpreting my posting as a political
one is only a way of escaping from the real issue.

My statement "if what we see in the text book is communism, what is in
the Bible is also communism" was to imply that there is no communism
in the text book. To me, rather it is Biblicism we see in the text
book. Bible occurred first and then only communism so there
chronologically there can not be any communism in the Bible. Why can't
we say, communism is Biblicism minus faith in a personal God?

Again think for a moment why do we fear communism? If we were true to
our calling and to the principles of Christ, there would not have been
any cause for the emergence of communism. Communism is an economic
principle and is concerned only of material world and hence can not
have eternal existence. Once the economic question is answered, there
is no relevance for communism. But that is not the case with
Christianity. It has much more than economic concerns. As a matter of
fact it goes beyond the physical world and enters in to metaphysical
one. Christianity is also concerned of a dimension that communism is
not concerned which is spirituality. Of course these days communism
also talks about spirituality. But that stays only in the realm of
human relationship in the material world. Christianity talks about a
spirituality that goes further beyond the material world. So
Communism is not a threat to Christianity. More over, communism has
existed several centuries now and has not succeeded in wiping out
religion. So why should we be afraid of it? I think we are fighting a
war against a shadow. What is required is we concentrate on our duty
as Christians and teach the children its principles. No person will be
attracted by any `no God theory' whether of communism or of any thing
else if we do that. And then we do not have to quarrel with any one
for what they think right. We are not the sole custodians of `right'.
Let God decide what is right and let us not act as advocates of God.
With regards and prayers.

Sri Thomas Chandy is perfectly correct on point one in his note. Before the split , the student wing of the communist party was known as AISF. Today SFI is the more predominant name of their student wings.

Regarding point two, my understanding is that Mrs. Indira Gandhi delegated a team to study how the communist party was able to get a majority in the election inspite of the fact that some of their candidates  were in the underground on criminal charges. They reported back  that it was their student wing members that visited every home and canvassed for them; including my students in the Government College, Chittur. This prompted her to suggest the formation of KSU in Kerala.

Just want to point out a few factual errors in the posting Text Books &Procreation.Ofcours the author has quoted from a research thesis,I am at a loss how the guides for the original Thesis allowed the factual errors to be there in the first place.

1.When Commies came to power in Kerala for the first time in 1957 SFI,the present day student wing of CPM didnot exist.Communist Party was one at that time and the Student wing of that party was calledAISF,which now is the students wing of CPI.Following the split in Communist Party in1964,CPM promoted a student wing by name KSF in Kerala, which is now part of the all India Organisation SFI.Pro Congress students union at that time was named Students Congress. Both the organisations were very weak in1950s.AISF was active during the freedome struggle but became weak lateron.

2.KSU came into existance during the days of Vimochana Samaram and was a purely local initiative. Some of its founder leaders  who are still around are M.A.John,Vayalar Ravi,A.K.Antony etc.Mrs Gandhi had nothing to do with the formation of KSU,She as Congress President of that time couldnot have found time for it-evenState level leaders of Congress had taken very little interest in it.Only aftar the founders of KSU proved its worth in the Student agitations did the party bigwigs sat up and took notice of it.

I am not trying to prove any point, but putting the records straight

              Christianity And Communism

In view of the current hot debate taking place on this subject,I thought it may be a good idea to type my thoughts on this subject.

         1. Is there a need for Christians and Communists to hate each other?

2.Does one means the end of the other?

         3.Can the two co-exist if not co-operate?

        1. In my view,a true christian is forbidden to hate anyone.Jesus taught us Christians to pray for our persecutors and love our enemies. The starting point to that destination is to try and understand the other side( meaning view point )and put across  our viewpoint to them

For a Communist end justifies the means therefore I derive that hate is a word that exists in their Lexican

But the question is whether it is needed.Jesus taught the rich to distribute their wealth to the poor.Communism says that the wealth should be eqitably distributedamong all,and the gap between the rich and the poor should be small

These are doctrines, followers of both are far away from  the doctrines.

  2. Coming to the second question, although there is no need for the twosides to be hostile, hostility exists.Probably due to the Stalinist regime in USSR was hostile to church, elsewhere in the world the Church too has been hostile to Communism  and most large churches are still hostile.

3.It is possible for Christianity and Communism to co-exist,In USSR it did.So is the case in East Europian erstwhile Communist countries.Co-operation is also possible ,it is happening in north India, where catholic nuns who work for the upliftment of the tribals co-operate with Naxalites(of all the people -it applies to both the parties)

THEN WHY THIS MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING?

Vested interests on either side,Pride and prjudices ,Oneupmanship

These needs further examination.I think this mail is little too long already.I shall follow up this   by another mail in a few days time

Dear Moderators,

Please post this in your esteemed forum.

Ref. Text Books and Procreation

This is not a reply to Sri Thomas P“thoughts” that came in ICON on Thursday July 10th 2008.

It is an attempt to unravel what surge in me.

In the life of a child, the period of procreation is from the womb of the mother to the time he reaches maturity- 15 to 20th year. Of these years, the early years till he is 13 to 14, his mind is like a blotting paper. He absorbs everything –good and bad. When he is in the seventh standard, he is 12-13, and is still very impressive. What he learns then, he is likely to retain in his life; of course subject to further beget by his friends, peers, spouse, media internet, teachers, curricula and other educational structures and other influences of his ambience. That is why the Church is insistent on Sunday Schooling of children.

I happened to come across a thesis presented to the Kerala University for a Ph.D diploma by late Prof.R.Ramakrishnan Nair.([1])It explained that the SFI ( Student Federation of India) students did the propaganda to make the communist candidates in the General Election of 1957 to win and get into power in Kerala through the ballot paper. ([2]) It also said that, that prompted Mrs. Indira Gandhi to start KSU (Kerala Students Union), the student wing for the youth Congress of Kerala. “Catch one young” was the principle behind it. Ideas instilled into younger minds become indelible and get rooted to bear fruits. Marxist used this technique in Kerala from the !940s. So the teachers and text books and instructions given to children till they are in the tenth std (14-15 years) are very significant in the moulding of the child.

From a purely social angle we can think of Jesus as a visionary; like Bacon or Plato. dreaming a new social order based on universal love. Bacon’s “Utopia”, Plato’s Ideal State, Bhagavath Gita, Bible, Quran,  Gandhinji’s concept of Rama Rajya are all visionary dreams of a new peaceful social order.

The new social order of Jesus is based on human love, exalted to God’s love. It is the quintessence of the Universe itself. It is the love emanating from one particle which demand reciprocity so that they get bound together and thus with every particle in the unit. Thus all planets, stars, atoms in organic and inorganic entities, neutrons and protons. quarks and anti quarks and so on keep their own places in the Universe.[3]

Similarly there must be this universal love between all men in the human society for a peaceful existence. For ecological balance this love must extend to all organic and inorganic matter around you. Universal peace can be established only when all human society  extends their universal love to every other such society and matter in the Universe.

It is this Universal attraction called gravity which Buckminster Fuller describes as Synergy[4] to bring World peace in a decades’ time.. It is the universal love, called gravity, in particle physics.

What is the essence of Christianity? This can be gleaned from the 3 sources: -

  1. The Gospels
  2. The writings of Early Fathers of the Church.
  3. The teachings of the Fathers and Malpans of the Church.

From these sources we understand that Christianity has four basic ideas.

1. God is our father and all men are our brothers. In the light of the extension of our knowledge and environmental and ecological concerns of modern man, our Church Fathers now extend the terms “brothers” to incorporate all animate and inanimate things in the World. So the idea of Universal Brotherhood of Man under the Fatherhood of God has become Universal Synergic Love (Cosmic Love) to everything Under the Fatherhood of God.

2. Kingdom of God is at hand and right in front of  you. It is within us. It is not a promise for the future. One can enter into it immediately by starting to live his new life in Christ.(Luke.17:21)based on Universal love.

3. Life is the true measure of value. So life of Christians must reflect Jesus to others. That alone is the real worth of being a follower of Christ. In this sense all are evangelists and disciples of Jesus. All Christian  teachers also are shepherds.. He must teach and show them what Christianity is by his life. His life must mirror Christ to his wards.

4. Human Society must be regenerated here, and now. In other words Christianity is not merely a religious idea, but it is also a social concept of a better society: the Kingdom of God. We may call it Heaven or "Suwargam" The method to organise the new Society is the quintessence of the teachings of Jesus and the Church. The technical modality is to practice Synergic Love of God .This “love” is the basic structure of all animate and inanimate things in the Universe.

This is the social theory  of God.—God’s creation.

[1] Dr. R. Ramakrishnan Nair- “ How Communists came into Power in Kerala”. He was Head of the Dept. of Politics, Kerala University in the 1970s

[2] This was the first time in history that a communist party came into power to form a Government through the ballot paper

[3] So the idea of Universal Brotherhood of Man Under the Fatherhood of God has become Universal Synergic Love (Cosmic Love) to Everything Under the Fatherhood of God. This term requires further expansion, which, we shall not take up now.

[4] Buckminster Fuller:-monograph. “Heaven in ten years”. In this he explains the need for Synergic Love by all the de-sovereignised individuals in the Society. It is cosmic love,This will make everyone to live in peace and happiness

DEAR MILITHOS THIRUMENI,

GOODDAY TO YOU. I THINK YOU REMEMBER ME. YOU HAVE VISITED MY HOME
WHILE YOU WER IN KUWAIT.

I HAVE SEEN YOUR STATEMENT RECENTLY IN TVS SUPPORTING COMMUNISM AND
SUPPORTING 7TH STD BOOK.

1) AS YOU STATED "COMMUNISM IS IN THE BIBLE", WHY SEPARATE
COMMUNIST MANIFESTO WAS WRITTEN? WHAT'S THE NEED TO WRITE SEPARATE
COMMUNIST BOOKS WHEN COMMUNISM IS ALREADY IN THE BIBLE?

2) WHATEVER HAPPENS IN THE WORLD CAN BE CONNECTED AND QUOTED
DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY WITH ALL THE STORIES OF ALL THE RELIGIOUS
BOOKS, (MAHABHARATHA, RAMAYAN, KHURAN, BIBLE, ETC. MANEFESTOS OF
POLITICAL PARTIES, DO NOT MEAN THAT ALL ARE SAME. ON WHAT BASIS YOU
INTERPRET THAT WHATEVER WRITTEN IN 7TH STD ARE IN THE BIBLE ALSO.
KADAL AND KADALDI HAVE NOTHING COMMON..

3) COMMUNISM WAS ORIGINATED IN A FREE DEMOCARATIC WORLD. IT
CONSIDERED RELIGION AS OPIUM. AND COMMUNISTS WERE/ARE THE WORST
ENEMIES OF BIBLE AND RELIGIONS . IN 30 OR SO COUNTRIES COMMUNISM RULED
FOR 70 YEARS OR SO THEY CONSIDRED BIBLE AND CHURCH AS THEIR WORST
ENEMIES. 40,000 PRIESTS WERE KILLED OR PESECUTED BY USSR ALONE.
COMMUNISTS CONVERTED BISHOP HOUSES INTO PARTY OFFICES. THEY TRIED ALL
THE METHOD TO DESTROY CHURCH AND BIBLE. EVEN NOW COMMUNIST COUNTRY
CHINA DOES NOT GIVE RELIGIOUS FREEDOM TO CHRISTIANS AS WE ENJOY IN THE
DEMOCRATIC WORLD. TILL RECENTLY COMMUNISTS IN KERALA ITSELF WERE
AGAINST BIBLE , FAITH AND CHURCH. THEY CLAIM THEMSELVES AS ATHIESTS,
WITH VERY FEW EXCEPTIONS.

4) THIRUMENI CAN YOU SHOW ME ONE COUNTRY WHERE COMMUNISM
EXISTED, OUT OF ABOUT 40 COUNTRIES, ONE COUNTRY SUPPORTED RELIGION
BIBLE AND NOT PESECUTED BISHOPS FATHERS AND BIBLE AND RELIGION?
COMMUNISM WHERE EVER PRACTICALLY RULED CONSIDERED RELIGION, BIBLE AND
PRIESTS AND BISHOPS AS ANTI-HUMAN OPIUM AND ENEMIES OF HUMNAITY.
THOUGH PERSONALLY SOME COMMUNISTS CHANGING THAT VIEW SLOWLY.

5) HUMAN RIGHTS, EQUALITY, FRATENITY, DEMOCARCY, SOCIALISM,
ABOLISION OF SLAVERY, LEGALITY FOR DIFFERENT FAITH MARRIAGE, CROSS
MARRIAGE, SECULARISM, REPECT RELIGONS, ACCEPTANCE OF RELIGION, OR ALL
GOOD HUMAN MOVEMNETS HAPPENED OR BROUGHT BY DEMOCRATIC OR
NON-COMMUNISTS TRADITIONS. BUT YOU SE ONLY COMMUNISM IN BIBLE. YOU
WANT TO CONNECT ALL GOOD THINGS OR BAD THINGS HAPPENING IN THIS WORLD
  WITH COMMUNISM.

6) YESTERDAY I HAVE SEEN NORTH KOREA IN SANCHARAM., WHICH CLAIMS
TO BE A TRUE COMMUNIST COUNTRY. NO FREEDOM, NO FREE FOURTH ESTATE,
NO OPPOSITION, NO OPPOSITE SOUND, NO NEW WRITINGS, NO NEW SOCIAL
THEORIES, NO HUMAN DEVELOPMENT, NOBODY CAN TALK AGAINST COMMUNISM,
EVERYBODY HAS TO PRAISE THE THEORY AND NO NEW THEORY CAN COME UP.
UTTER CRUEL DICTATORSHIPS IN ITS WORST FORM. WHEREEVER COMMUNISM
RULED, TESTED, PRACTICALLY EXISTED, THESE WERE THE SITUATION. NO
COUNTRY WITH COMMUNISM ESCAPED IN THIS WORLD. FINANCIALLY AND IN
DEVELOPMENTAL ASPECTS ALSO ALL THESE COMMUNISTS COUNTRIES FAILED BY
ITSELF. PEOPLE THREW THE COMMUNISTS REGIMES INTO DEEP SEA, WHEN THEY
GOT A CHANCE. NOW CHINA NORTH KOREA AND CUBA ARE THE ONLY COUNTRIES
UNDER THE CRUEL COMMUNISTS DICTATORSHIPS. OUT OF THIS CHINA KEEPING
DICTATORSHIP, AND ALLIGNING WITH USA, AND LIBERALISATION POLICY AND
ALL THE HELP AND CO-OPERATION OF USA, FINACIALLY THEY STILL MANAGE BY
THEIR OWN. IN THE NAME OF COMMUNISM STALIN KILLED MILLIONS OF
OPPONENTS, POLPOT KILLED HALF OF THE POPULATION, AND MOST OF THE
COUNTRIES WITH COMMUNISTS RULE HAD SAME HISTORY. NO NEW THERIES CAN
COME UP, NO BETER THINKING CAN COME UP UNDER COMMUNISM. PRACTICALLY
NO RELIGION CAN EXIST ALSO.

  7) THIRUMENI, HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT SUCH COMMUNISM TO COME TO OUR
COUNTRY ALSO. ? HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT SUCH A COMMUNIST RULE. AROUND 40
COUNTRIES ONCE ADOPTED COMMUNIST RULE, NOT A SINGLE COUNTRY HAD ANY
EXCEPTION.? HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT AND ALLIGN WITH THE WORST ENEMIES OF
CHRISTIANITY AND RELIGION.? LIKE EAST EUROPE AND RUSSIA COMMUNISM
COME TO POWER IN INDIA, YOUR EXISTANCE ITSELF WILL BE THRENTENED. THE
EXAMPLES OF WHEREEVER COMMUNISM CAME IS IN FRONT OF YOU.

8) GOD AND SAITHAN HAVE INTELLIGENCE. THEY BOTH CAN MOVE FROM
ONE PLACE TO OTHER, MANY THINGS COMMON. I MEAN THERE ARE SEVERAL
SIMILARITIES WITH GOD AND SAITHAN. POINTING OUT THESE SIMILARITIES
NOBODY CAN CLAIM THAT BOTH ARE THE SAME. BIBLE, ALL THE RELIGIOUS
BOOKS, COMMUNISM AND ALL POLITICAL THEORIES ULTIMATELY CLAIM THAT
THEY STAND FOR HUMAN WELFARE AND HUMAN GOODNESS. THAT DOESN'T MEAN
THAT BIBLE AND COMMUNISM ARE EQUAL. "IN BIBLE COMMUNISM IS THERE AND
IN TEXT BOOK COMMUNISM CANNOT."? BY ASKING THIS QUESTION WHAT DO YOU
MEAN. IN MODERN WORLD, SLAVERY WAS ABOLISHED BY ABRAHAM LINCON, WHO
WAS A TRUE DEMOCRAT NOT A COMMUNIST. AL L THE GOOD THINGS IN THIS
WORLD ARE FRUITS OF DEMOCRACY. NOT THE RESULT OF UTTER CRUEL
DICTATORSHIPS ATHIEST COMMUNIST GOVTS. YOU DIVERTED THE SUBJECTS.

TEXT BOOK IS NOT THE MEDIUM TO SPREAD THE COMMUNIST PARTY THEORIES
ESPECIALLY ATHIESM, BELITTLING THE OTHER THEORIES. TEXTBOOKS AIM
SHOULD NOT BE TO GLORIFY DICTATORSHIP AND COMMUNISM OR ANY OTHER
POLITICAL THEORIES DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT SUCH A COMMUNISM? AND PRAY FOR SUCH A COMMUNISM,
PRACTICALLY TO COME TO THE WORLD. PRACTICALLY IF IMPLEMENTED
COMMUNISM CANNOT BE DIFFERENT, FROM THESE 40 COUNTRIES, IN ANY OTHER
COUNTRY.

VII THE STD BOOK

GIVING IMPRESSION OF NEHRU TO CHILDREN. (page 25)

9) NEHRU HAD BECOME GREAT AND WORLD REMEMBERS HIM, NOT BECAUSE HE
WAS AN ATHIEST AS THE 7TH STD BOOK TEACHES THE CHILDREN. (NOTHING
ELSE TO TEACH TO CHILDREN ABOUT NEHRU?? YOU AGREE SUCH WAY OF
TEACHING BY 'VARTTUVADA' COMMUNISTS??

  10) WE HAVE ALSO LEARNED ABOUT ALL THE SUPERSTITIONS AND
ATROCITIES HAPPENED IN INDIA AGAINST HARIJANS AND OTHERS AND VICE VERSA.

BUT HERE IN PAGE 17 "A 7TH STD STUDENT IS TAUGHT THAT DALITS WAS
BURNT

ALIVE BY SAVARNAR" WITHOUT TEACHING THEM THE SITUATION EXISTED
IN THE WORLD AND INDIA FOR THE LAST 5000 YEARS. IT SPREADS HATRED
ONLY DIRECTLY. THIS IS NOT THE WAY CHILDREN SHOULD BE TAUGHT IN THE
CLASS ROOM. WE NEVER LEARNT ALL THESE IN THIS WAY. GANDHIJI,
RAJARAM MOHANROY, NEHRU, ANNIE BASANT AND MANY OTHERS FOUGHT AGAINST
UNTOUCHABILITY, SUPERSTITIONS AND BAD PRACTICES. IN KERALA THE FIRST
POPULAR GOVT BROUGHT LAND REFORMS, (WHICH EVEN THE EXPONENT OF IT KR
GOURI SAYS A FAILURE, IN 50S - 60S WE WERE PRODUCING 100% OF FOOD
FOR OUR USE, AFTER FAILED LAND REFORMS NOW WE PRODUCE ONLY 35% OF
FOODS ONLY.) FIRST OR SUBSEQUENT GOVTS IN ALL OTHER 28 STATES ALSO
BROUGHT LAND REFORMS AND DIRECT PAYMENTS IN EDUCATION. ALL CREDITS TO
COMMUNISM NOT CORRECT. LAND OWNERSHIP TO AGRICULTURISTS IS A
DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLE NOT COMMUNIST THEORY. (PAGE 7)

11)" IN PAGE 22 IT IS GIVEN THAT IN CHRISTIAN SABHA THERE WERE
DISCRIMINATION AMONG LOWER AND UPPER CLASS PEOPLE."

WHAT MESSAGE IT WILL GIVES TO CHILD. CHRISTIAN RELIGION IS BAD, IT
HAS ALL THE DESCRIMINATION, HENCE KEEP AWAY FROM THAT OR LOOK AT ITS
SUSPECIOUSLY.

ON THE CONTRARY WHAT'S THE TRUE FACTS. CHRISTIANITY IS THE ONLY
RELIGION STOOD FOR DOWNTRODDEN. IN KERALA AND NORTH VILLAGES, WHERE
EVEN THE GOVT MACHINERIES NEVER WENT, THERE CHRISTIAN REILIGON WENT
AND HELPED PEOPLE TO BECOME HUMAN BEINGS, BY GIVING THEM EDUCATION AND
OTHER HELPS. THIS DESCRIMINATION IS NOT BROUGHT BY CHRISTIAN
RELIGION AS WRONGLY PRESENTS IN THE 7TH STD TEXT. IT WAS IN THE
SOCIETY FOR 5000 YEARS. CHRISTIANITY ACTUALLY TRIED TO DO AWAY WITH
IT. CHRISTINITY ONLY SAVED SUCH PEOPLE. CHRISTIANITY DID MORE THAN
GOVTS IN THIS FIELD. BUT WRONG MESSAGE ONLY GIVEN TO THE MINDS OF
CHILD AND IT CREATES HATRED IN HIS MIND. YOU SUPPORT SUCH TYPE OF
TEACHINGS. ?

12) 27TH PAGE, IT IS WRITTEN THAT " PEOPLE FROM SAME RELIGION
QUARREL EACH OTHER , PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT RELGIONS KILL EACH OTHER"

WHAT IS THE MESSAGE. RELIGION IS FOR HATRED AND KILL EACH OTHER?

IN KERALA RELIGION OR COMMUNISM KILLS MAXIMUM PEOPLE, 600 PEOPLE
KILLED IN KANNUR AND STILL THE KILLINGS GOING ON IN THE NAME OF
COMMUNISM. ALL RELIGIOUS KILLINGS HAS POLITICS BEHIND. IN THE WORLD
ALSO ALL THE WARS, IST AND 2ND WORLD WAR, IRAQ KUWAIT WAR, IRAQ IRAN
WAR, KOREAN WARS INDIAN CHINA PAK WARS WERE NOT FOR RELIGION. ALL
POLITICAL PARTIES CLAIM THEY ARE FOR THE WELFARE OF PEOPLE. THEN WHY
THEY FIGHT AND KILL EACH OTHER? THIS IS THE ONLY MESSAGE TO IMPART TO
CHILDREN ABOUT RELIGION.? YOU AGREE WITH COMMUNISTS DUBBING RELIGIONS
LIKE THIS?

  9) BY GIVING THE NAIR ONLY LIST OF 1924 WILL GIVE THE STUDENTS
OF 7TH STD ANY POSITIVE MESSAGE? Its wrong to teach the children in
this way.

  10) IN REFERENCE ALSO CHILDREN AND TEACHERS ARE ASKED TO READ
COMMUNISTS BOOKS ONLY. NO OTHER BOOKS IN THE WORLD, NO RELIGIOUS, NO
NON-RELIGIOUS BOOKS??

11) WHY THERE IS A LESSON ITS HEADING IS " MAN WITHOUT RELIGION."
WHILE 99% OF CHILDREN ARE RELIGIOUS.? AND INDIA IS A RELIGIOUS
SUPPORTING COUNTRY.

  12) COMMUNISM IS AGASINT GOD, RELIGION AND FAITH DOESN'T MEAN THEY
TEACH IT IN CLASS ROOMS. THIS IS NOT A COMMUNIST DICTATORSHIP,
ATHIEST COUNTRY.

13) IN BIBLE THERE ARE MENTIONING OF PROSTITUTES, DAUGHTERS SLEEP
WITH FATHER AND GET CHILDREN, KAIN KILL HABEL, KAIN MIGHT HAVE SLEPT
WITH SISTERS OR EVEN WITH MOTHER TO HAVE CHILDREN. ? BUT WE WILL NOT
GLORIFY THESE THINGS AND TEACH CHILDREN AT THE 7TH STD LEVEL PICKING
OUT ONLY THIESE THINGS. THEY SHOULD LEARN IT WHEN BIBLE IS TAUGHT AS
A WHOLE AS WE ALL LEARNT.

  14) LUCKILY EVEN THE CORE COMMUNISTS NEVER CLAIMED THAT BIBLE IS
COMMUNIST BOOK AS YOU CLAIMED IN TV INTERVIEW.

REGARDING BOOKS CONTENT YOU MAY HAVE DIFFERENT OPINION. BUT REGARDING
COMMUNISM, HOW YOU CAN SAY THE ABOVE MENTIONED SENTENCES.?

IF COMMUNISM WOULD HAVE SPREAD TO ALL THE WORLD, INSTEAD OF 40
COUNTRIES, YOU WOULD NOT HAVE A CHANCE TO HEAR ABOUT GOD, CHIRST AND
BIBLE. LUCKILY IT CONTAINED IN EAST EUROPEAN COUNTRIES. ALL THE
COUNTRIES UNDER COMMUNISM IN 70 YEARS, BECAME BANKRUPT, ALL THE
COUNTRIES IN EUROPE WHICH ADOPTED DEMOCRACY HAVE DEVELOPED. SEE EAST
AND WEST GERMANIES.

11) EVEN ALL KNOWN COMMUNIST LEADERS IN KERALA WERE ATHIEST. THEY
DENOUNCED CHRISTIANITY AND BIBLE AND ALL WERE AGAINST BIBLE. EVEN NOW
ALL THE KNOWN LEADERS IN COMMUNISM ARE ATHIEST. NOW TO GET MORE
SUPPORTERS, AND TO INFLUENCE PEOPLE LIKE YOU THEY HAVE CHANGED THEIR
COLORS. THEY NOW STARTED SAYING THAT THEY ACCEPT FAITHFULS ALSO. BUT
WHEN THEY WILL SHOW THEIR TRUE COLORS, DEMOCRACY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO
SAVE THE FAITHFULS,

I HAVE NOTHING AGAISNT BOOK. LET THEM TEACH OR NOT TEACH IS NOT MY
CONCERN.

12) WHEN CORNERED, ONE THIRUMENI DISCLOSED THAT, WHILE COMMUNISTS
TALK ALL AGASINT CHURCH IN THE DAY TIME, EVENING THEY VISIT BISHOPS,
LIKE THAT MATHAI CHACKO ALSO CAME TO THE CHURCH AND CONDUCTED
MARRIAGE AND HE HAD LAST RITES AND CHILDREN ARE BAPTISED. FOR
DISCLOSING THAT, PINARAI CALLED THE THIRUMENI ' NIKRUSHTAJEEVI',
BISHOPS ARE DUBBED AS MERCHANTS, AND EVIL MESSENGERS. HE CLAIMED
THAT MATHAI CHACKO HAD LED A CLEAR AND CLEAN COMMUNIST LIFE. A
CLEAN COMMUNIST CANNOT BE A RELIGIOUS MAN. HE WHO CLAIMS THAT HE WAS
RELIGIOUS IS "NIKRUSHTAJEEVI".. HE WAS RELIGIOUS MAN OR HE EVER
BELIEVED IN GOD ITSELF IS WRONG AND THE THIRUMENI WHO SAID SO IS
"NIKRUSHTAJEEVI"

BUT YOUR STATEMENT THAT BIBLE CONTAINS COMMUNIST THEORIES REALLY
HURT MY FEELINGS. SSLAVE LIBERATION, LIBERATION OF INDIA, LIBERATION
OF ALL COMMONWEALTH COUNTRIES, DEVELOPMENT OF ALL GCC COUNTRIES, WEST
EUROPE JAPAN S KOREA NORTH AMERICAN COUNTRIES ALL PROGRESSED NOT
THROUGH COMMINISM. THESE ALL DEVELOPMENT AND GOOD THINGS HAPPENED TO
THAT COUNTIRES THROUGH DEMOCRACY. OUR DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY'S
CONSTITITION ONLY ALLOWS INTERCASTE MARRIAGE LEGALLY. IT IS NOT
COMMUNISM . IF ST PETER MENTIONED THIS, IT IS THE STRENGTH OF
DEMOCRACY, NOT COMMUNISM. INDIA WAS LIBERATED THROUGH DEMOCRATIC
STRUGGLE, NOT BY COMMUNISM. SLAVES IN THE WORLD WERE LIBERATED BY
ABRAHAM LINCOLN NOT BY COMMUNISTS. HENCE, IF EXODUS IS IN THE BIBLE ,
IT IS TRUE DEMOCRACY NOT COMMUNISM.

WHILE BEING PART OF A SABHA AND IN A RESPONSIBLE POSITION, BEFORE
TALKING TO MEDIA, YOU COULD HAVE DISCUSSED THE MATTER IN THE
APPROPRIATE BODY. THERE YOU COULD HAVE EXPRESSED YOUR OPINION AND
THEN TALK TO THE MEDIA. YOU ARE NOT AN INDIVIDUAL, YOU ARE A PUBLIC
MAN, REPRESENT A BIG SABHA.

YOU SAY YOU ARE SADDENED BY SEEING THE STRIKE AGASINT THE BOOK.. SEE
IN KERAL'S LIFE COMMUNISTS AND SFI ND LDF ARE THE WORST STRIKE AND
HARTAL MAKERS. WE SAW THEIR VIOLENT BURING STRIKES IN KERALA JUST
BEFORE THE NEW GOVT. IT IS A KNOWN FACT THAT FOR CONDUCTING VIOLENT
STRIKES, SFI AND LDF ARE THE BEST. A TEACHER WHO WAS TAKING CLASS
WAS BRUTALLY KILLED BY COMMUNIST IN THE CLASS ROOMS IN FRONT OF THE
SMALL CHILDREN AT KANNUR. SNAKE PARK WAS BURNT AND DESTROYED, VIOLENT
NASSEKARANA SMARANGAL WE HAVE SEEN IN KERALA BY LDF AND SFI DYFI ONLY.
YOU NEVER WERE SAD DURING THESE STRIKES, NOW YOU ARE SADDENED.?

WHETHER YOU WERE SADDENED WHEN COMMUNISTS KILL DAILY THEIR OPPONETS
IN KANNUR, KODUNGALLOOR OR ANYWHERE? WHEN THEY OPPOSED VIOLENT
NASSEKARANA STRIKES AGAISNT MECHANISATION OF AGRICULTURE, INDUSTRY,
COMPUTERISATION, GIM, SMARTCITY, ADB LOAN, NEDUMBASSERY AIRPORT,
PRE-DEGREE BOARD, SWASRAYA COLLEGES (FOR 40 YEARS OUR MAJORITY
CHILDREN WERE FORCED TO GO OUTSIDE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION, WHAT
COMMUNISTS DID FOR SOLVING THIS PROBLEMS?) CHUMATTUTHOSHILALAI
NIYAMAM OR ANY GOOD MEASURES?

HERE ANYWAY SOME ARDENT COMMUNISTS, BEARING CHRISTIAN NAMES-STILL
KEEP THE CHURCH CONNECTION TO BOOST THEIR POPULARITY, ALWAYS WORK
AGAINST CHRISTIANITY, REDUCULE THEM, DO WHATEVER IS POSSIBLE AGAINST
THEM, CALL PRIESTS AS SAITHANS, BISHOPS AS MONEYMONKERS AND SHYLOCK
LIKE MERCHANTS, AND ALWAYS WORK TO WEAKEN THE CHURCH, GOT A HERO IN
YOU. IN ALL MARXIST MEETINGS YOU ARE A HERE. QUOTED AS A HERO. IF YOU
FIGHT ELECTIONS, EASILY YOU CAN WIN AS A COMMUNIST LEADER.

COMMUNIST WANTS TO IMPART THE MESSAGE TO THE YOUNG BRAINS THAT,
NAIRS UPPERCAST ENJOYED ALL PROSPERITIES.

CHRISITAN CHURCH BROUGHT DESCRIMINATION AND UNTOUCHABILITY.

COMMUNISTS ONLY GAVE LAND OWNERSHIP TO AGRICULTURISTS.

NEHRU WAS ATHIEST LIKE COMMUNISTS.

RELIGION IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF ALL DISCORD.

RELIGION IS BAD.

RELIGION YOU CAN LEARN JOIN AFTER ATTAINING MAJORITY.

AGRICULTURE CRISIS BROUGHT BY PEOPLE BUILDING HOUSES, NOT BY COMMUNIST
CONTINUOUS VIOLENT STRIKES AGAISNT MODERINISM IN AGRICULTURE,
COMMUNIST OPPOSITION OF USING MACHINES IN AGRICULTURE,
(koythuyabnthram & THE LIKE) AND DESTROYING AGRICULTURE BY CAPTURING
LIKE 'MURIKKUM NILANGAL'.

THEY WANT TO TEACH CHILDREN THAT GOING TO SUNDAY SCHOOL, CHURCH,
SCHOOL, PRAYERS, RELIGIOUS MEETINGS, WHATEVER CONNECTED WITH RELIGION,
THE CHILDREN CAN AND CHILDREN SHOULD DECIDE AFTER THEY ATTAIN MAJORITY.?

THIRUMENI, PLEASE KINDLY EXCUSE FOR ANY OF THE SENTENSES I HAVE
WRITTEN ABOVE MAYHAVE HURT YOU IN ANY WAY.

Hi all,

The RC Church in Germany issued a warning to Mar Severios Mushe Gorgun
"to grant Mushe Görgün and its projects no support at all."
(Kirchliches Amtsblatt, 15. June 2008). This warning was issued after
a request from Patriarch Zakka 1. The argument of RC Church is that
there is already a SOC archdiocese in Europe, hence the new one is
uncanonical.

Some questions:

1. The Patriarch ordained a Catholicos against law and canon, when
there already existed a valid Catholicos of the East. He ordained a
candidate who damaged the unity of the Church, without obtainign
permission from Catholicos of the East and his Synod.

This new Catholicos together with Patriarch ordained any bishops
creating parallel dioceses in Malankara. Are these dioceses canonical?
Why the RC Church in Kerala did not issue a warning to HB Thomas 1
against his divisive activities when he created parallel dioceses? But
the RC church was sending bishops like Mar George Punnakottil to
participate in the meetings of HB Thomas 1, including his faith
declaration meeting.

We need to know the opinion of Cardinal Walter Casper about this
extreme injustice!

2. Is the approach of Patriarch based on Christian justice? Why should
he approach RC Church against a brother in the Orthodox faith? Based
on Christian principles of justice how can he request something like
this when he is supporting the division and destruction of families in
Kerala? Any truth and justice seen here? Does he care anything about
human beings in Malankara Church?

3. I think the RC Church should study the situation in Kerala, in an
impartial way, and treat the German bishop at least similar to how the
RC Church treat HB Thomas 1 and the bishops of parallel dioceses
ordained by him and Patriarch. Otherwise it should be considered
height of injustice and great crime against ecumenism.

4. If these Western Churches do not treat us in a fair and just manner
according to Christian faith, is there any value in establishing
ecumenical relationship with them? The fact that these Churches
ruthlessly divided our people (and dividing us even now) is an
indication that they do not care for us or honor our identity and
existence. The denial of justice towards us and treating us at a lower
level in Christendom must be based on the pride and legacy enjoyed by
these western Churches.

sincerely,
Thomas

UNFORGIVABLE SIN
By E.S. JOHN AUSTRALIA

The message that I posted last month under the heading `Sin against
the Holy Spirit' is an unfinished piece of work. The Holy Spirit, the
third Personae of the Triune God, though broods over the Holy Church
incessantly, is also immanent within and without our body and within
the entire universe of seen and unseen planes of life. He has been
everywhere before the creation of this world. "….and the Spirit of
God was moving over the space of the waters", Gen.1: 2. The sin
against the Holy Church is unforgivable, as the Spirit of God dwells
within it, so also sinning against our own spirit, together with the
physical body, and other people who are created in the image and
likeness of God. The Spirit of God permeates in us, so also the
Spiritual reflexes that run the whole gigantic system of the created
order is everlasting.

Different types of spirits:
In Hebrew `Ruach' and in Greek `pneuma' means wind or air. The Holy
Ghost, the third Person of the Triune God, is the scriptural word
which is equivalent to this is Holy Spirit. There is a spirit in man.
The kindling or the renewed nature that dwells in man makes him
spiritual, Mt.26: 41. The renewed nature that we call `soul'
continues to exist even after the death of the body, Acts.7: 59, is
eternal. Good angels are called spirits, Heb.1: 14. The fallen angels
are known as devils, unclean or evil spirits, Mk.5: 13. Spirit
signifies an apparition or ghost, Mt.14: 26. The breath, the
respiration, the animal life that is in beasts are also personified
as spirits or spiritual exercises, Eccl.3: 21. Spirit is also taken
for the wind, Amo.4: 13, Zec.6: 5; Jn.3: 8. There is a spirit of man,
as well as the spirit of this world, 1.Cor.2: 10-16. These details
support us that we in a universal ocean of spirits that even may
include the microscopic amoeba, bacteria, and virus and so on. The
vibration and movements of all such spirit can influence or
indoctrinate our daily life, unless controlled and harnessed and
sifted out by our own free will that is an emanation of the spirit of
God which dwells in.

Duality of man:
Man is a spirit, the spark of the Spirit of God who created us from
nothingness. The Lord is the Spirit ,2.Cor.3: 17. "The Spirit of God
has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life', Job.33;
4; "…as long as my breath is in me, and the Spirit of God is in my
nostrils, Job.27: 3"; pro.15: 4. The outer frame of man is a part of
this earth that was once the dominion of the fallen Lucifer and his
legions. As such evil spirits have the legality and chemical affinity
of entering into man, he is like meat in the sandwich that is
constrained by good and evil forces. The mortal frame of man is
therefore a vulnerable testing medium that decides the destiny of
him. Unless we conquer this physical outfit by mortifying the flesh
that is the compendium of all the base animal passions, our fate is
sealed for the eternal darkness of wailing and gnashing of teeth. To
kill our physical body that nurtures all sorts of bestial passions is
the sole aim of our life which is given as a gift of God.

He didn't forsake us even in our disgraced life of Eden's fall; yet
He blessed us with a family life that partake a complementing life of
sacramental affinity. Because Adam divorced His Creator, God made it
as a test on that basis by giving a partner who was meant to be with
him eternally, just as Adam was meant for God everlastingly. The
sacred fidelity of Adam to God cannot be questioned, whereas Eve who
didn't directly get a commandment from God separated him by her
disobedience of tasting the forbidden fruit. If the forbidden fruit
was the test for the first parents, their descendants are again and
still being tested after the fall by `nakedness', Gen.2: 25; 3; 7,
the net result of eating the forbidden fruit. In the first instance
they divorced God, and in the second, they are tempted to be divorced
on the basis of sex, a product of the infringement of the first given
commandment to both of them. They disobeyed God; the outcome is that
they are also being tested by the product of the Forbidden fruit:
SEX. "Violent beginnings will have violent ends". Divorce and
infidelity is the outcome of the disobedience that creates a gulf on
the basis of sex. The first commandment that invites both implicit
and explicit obedience to God also anticipates chastity and fidelity
which is the outcome of obedience between the complementing partners
or any other members who continued their life after the fall. The
partners who have violated the first commandment against God faced
the same test by the product, sex impulse, of the forbidden fruit.
Divorce that breaks the obedience of fidelity has become equivalent
of eating the forbidden fruit, so also the women's parish equality in
the decision-making bodies that can pave the way for sex as an
explosive is against the Heavenly law. Women's ordination, as a
result remains as forbidden fruit, an anathema. God hasn't given sex
life that begets children for nothing; the progenies of the first
parents are thrown into such testing or tempting ground as long as
this world continues to endure, so that them being continually tested
again and again till the ripening of the age of Jesus' second coming
by reproducing children who are supposed to have laboured in the
Master's vineyard.

Complementing life of partnership:
Go and replenish the world is the commandment after the punishment of
the great deluge. "Be fruitful and multiply, bring forth abundantly
on the earth and multiply in it", Gen.9: 1-7. A clean life of
fidelity, chastity and obedience that re-establish a bond that broke
down between God and man in Eden is the expectation of a married life
which obey, honour, humbly serve and care each other is the sole aim
of our life on earth, thereby the affinity that cherished between God
and Adam before the fall to continue among the family members,
nations and society at large. The Paradise lost by the first parents
by their disobedience of the first commandment is regained by the
obedience of loving and caring that restore fidelity by sexual purity
and bringing up children in God-fearing way is the fast track method
of re-conquering the Paradise. Obedience to the social, secular and
religious hierarchy is a word or concept that is imbued in our system
by our moulder. "Charity begins at home" is the adage. A prayerful,
simple, humble life that cleanses our body and spirit by the
bucketful tears of repentance and introspection with retrospective
effect is the remedy for a healthy life which spins our salvation.
This is possible only if the spirit of each member of the family
identify with one another in the love of God.

The Spirit of God is the only cleanser that can purify the body and
soul. A sacramental life of worship is the cornerstone of the quality
of life that enhances the beauty of this ephemeral and evanescent
earthly plane, at the same the transcendental, of our temporal
existence. Cleansing of our body and spirit by the indwelling and the
renewal by the Spirit of God is the unseen work and process of God.
Jesus and apostles have been our models who led a life of sacramental
faith and a way of life, and proved and demanded us to follow their
path to a world of inexplicable beauty and ecstasy. Have faith first
in Jesus and His redemptive sacrifice that only adds the excellence
of a righteous life.

Garment of Incorruption:
The white ethereal substance that is an outcome of our righteous life
is the incorruptible garment. Observing the latter part of the Mosaic
commandments without practicing the former one doesn't guarantee the
afterlife bliss of Eternity. Unless the Holy Spirit indwells within
us, He can't cleanse us from standing outside and weave the garment
of incorruption by our charitable work alone; it will certainly like
putting the cart in front of the horse and harshly beating it can't
help the cart to be driven. If the Holy Ghost is not our driver, we
gain nothing in our family, social and inner life that spins the
white garb. Right faith first, then the excellence of a virtuous life
that triggers from within manifest the white rob of the celestials is
the ultimate goal of this transient life. Our pure thought, word and
deed that balance in tune with the chemical reactions of the body for
spinning of the white and clean robe of the ethereals is fully an
internal process of the body; the custodian of all these is the Holy
Spirit. Every thought or action that makes either good or bitter
chemicals harnesses the normal or abnormal balance of our body
system. Our oral and genital organs, together with our voluntary and
involuntary organs, will have to work harmoniously for cleansing of
our body and spirit. Kamam, sexuality, is the mother of all the lust
of our body. Kamam, crodham, …is the order of the list. The garment
of incorruption or the opaque rob is an outcome of the residue of our
evil or good thoughts or actions that determine the progress of our
soul. As man is a product of the passions of the body, no human being
can be pure or perfect in his body, mind and soul.

Mystical Body:
Here comes the mystery of the Body of Jesus Christ that is hundred
percent pure and crystalline clean. Only the Mystery of the mysteries
is able to clean our body, just as anti-biotic that drive out the
enemies of the body system. If the Son Incarnate can blot out the sin
of Adam, the third Person of the Holy Trinity that brood over the
church is able to administer with the celestial food that cleanses
our body and its inherent sins. The Son who took our flesh feeds us
with His flesh through the Holy Spirit who appoints the clergy to
medicate our derailed body with the celestial food of the Christ. The
Holy Spirit who came through the ears, the Word or sound, of St.Mary
comes into us through the mouth to purify us by the Holy Bread that
is administered by the religious ministers. But some celebrants scoff
the undercurrent ethos of the spiritual life by treating it as a
profession or industry by making it as a game of money and position.
Many churches have terminated Christianity with Jesus' death by
neglecting the Third Person of the Holy Trinity. Their slogan is that
Jesus washed them in His blood, but cannot reconcile with the
resurrection, the aftermath of which is the descent of the Holy
Spirit. The second era is the age of the Third Person who works
visibly through the commission of priesthood. The sacramental
Christianity that Jesus and the apostles have shown as examples is
the only path of salvation of a higher degree because there are small
and great in the Kingdom of God.

Church Life:
Going to church with such an ideal Christian life of faith and
charity bears the fruits of a sacramental life which pleases the Holy
Spirit who indwells within us and in the church. Holy life is a
transaction between the immanence of the Holy Spirit who is within us
and in the church. The sacramental life that enhances the fuels for
our repentance and forgiveness is a must for an onward going soldier
of Christ. Christianity is not a Sunday club life; it is the ecclesia
of like-minded members of the congregation that reflects and radiates
the love of God. Sacraments, repentance, fasting and prayer and
charity are the catch words of an exemplary Christian life. Unless we
take part the Sunday worship that starts from a noble and dedicated
family and communal life, the net outcome from the Sunday church
attendance doesn't bear many precious fruits. Sin of omission due to
ignorance may be forgiven, but the sin of commission in the church
and religious life is a direct confrontation to the Spirit of God.
This is termed as the religion of the Pharisees and Sadducees who
ridiculed the way of a sanctimonious life of worship. Self-betrayal
of their own conscience becomes the ultimate product of self-conceit.
Jesus referred to this sort of double or multiple games of their own
conscience as a sin against the Holy Spirit, Mt.12: 22-32. The dwarf
modern theologians have portrayed this instance of self-betrayal or
falsehood as a sin against the Holy Spirit, ignoring the fact that
blaspheme is overlooked as the sin against the Holy Spirit.

Blaspheme:
Blaspheme means speak impiously of God. When blaspheme, mt.12: 31,
not self-deceit or any unrighteous things, against the Holy Trinity
and the church and its teachings are ignored for selfish reasons is
the sin against the Spirit of God. "Every sin and blaspheme will be
forgiven men, but the blaspheme against the Spirit will not be
forgiven. And whoever says a word against the Son of man will be
forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be
forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come". Despite they
knew that Jesus was doing the work of God of administering the
healing, they identified Him as an agent of Beelzebub. Here the
Savior explicitly explains that the blasphemous sin against the Son
of Man or against the Holy Spirit, making it sure that He is finger-
pointing to the second and third person of the Triune God, not the
sin against oneself or to another individual is an unpardonable
sin. "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's spirit
dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him.
For God's temple is holy, and that temple you are." 1.Cor.3: 16-17 .
Despite we are the temple of God, sins against him or others may be
forgiven by penitence because Jesus died for us in flesh, but the sin
against the Spirit of God cannot be forgiven as He has not come in
flesh to redeem us. The sin against himself or against another may be
forgiven because Jesus who experienced about the frailty of human
nature. He lived and died and expiated our sins and still pleading
for us, whereas the Holy Spirit who proceeds from the Father and who
with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified hasn't come
in the flesh to forgive our sins. The Almighty Father is likely to
forgive our sins committed against Jesus and to other men due to the
Son's sacrifice, where as the Father may not forgive the sins
committed against the Spirit of God because he hasn't come in the
flesh to die for us.

Every individual is supposed to be holy, so also the church due to
the indwelling of the Spirit of God in both venues. Self-deceit is
only one form of sin against the Spirit of God, contrary to that the
blaspheme towards the church where the brooding of the Spirit of God
is the severe one, denigrating and tarnishing and betraying God.
Challenging the Fatherhood of God is more serious than the sin
against the brotherhood of man. The honour and sanctity towards the
holy church and its worshipping places, altar, sacraments and
vestments and utensils are the outward signs of the presence of the
Spirit of God and our pure hearts that is the place where God dwells
while inside and outside the church are expected to be holier than
anything else. The true and chaste faith that electrify our heart and
body that go in tune with the indwelling Holy spirit weave the
salvation of each man. There is nothing in the world that is not
permeated with the spirit of God; yet the sacrifice offered with a
burning heart that gives supplication to God is of paramount
importance. The pure family and social life that cultivate and
cherish the prominence of the apostolic faith and worship of the Holy
One of Israel is above everything.

Even an angel who professes against this sacred faith invites the
curse. Betraying one's own conscience is a form of sin against the
Holy Ghost who dwells in us, but the damning sin against the Spirit
of God is challenging and working against the Triune God who dwells
within the church, the body of Christ. Knowing the truth correctly
and yet blaspheming against the Almighty God is surely an
unforgivable sin of the highest magnitude. God first, and everything
else is only secondary. The ten Mosaic commandments are narrated in
this order. This is the era of the Comforter, whose Magna Carta is
sanctifying every worshipper and the place of worship which is the
church that is always brooded by the Spirit of God. "And do not
grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of
redemption", Ephe.4: 30. The modern theological pigmies who seek only
an academic degree condone also the mystical sides of religiousness
due to ignorance and religious apathy.

We are sealed by baptism, the first sacrament that we accept in the
church, administered by the ambassador of God. The visible
administrator for the Holy Spirit who brood through fire, water, oil,
or blood, 1:Jn.1: 5: 8", is the clergy. Hence the celebrant certainly
is the visible agent of the Ruha who indwell in all the sacraments,
venues and vicinities. "…let him hear what the Spirit says to the
churches", Rev.2: 29, thunder loudly that the Holy Spirit is the one
that anoints and sanctifies the churches, individuals and everything.
Betraying one's own conscience for walking over the chaste faith that
is the cornerstone of the church is an unforgivable sin or the sin
against the Spirit of God.

I can recollect from my faint memory that my father's statement that
the sin against the Holy Spirit is sinning against the Holy Church,
the seat of the Holy Spirit and the ecclesia of the faithful
believers of the both sides of the grave that temporarily veils the
ocean of God's elected throng.

Dear Sirs,
Please post this  in your esteemed forum.
Thank you.

TEXT BOOKS IN PROCREATION OF CHILDREN

There were two supportive responses to the present Kerala Text book issue in the ICON. Text books issued to very young children up to the tenth standard (15 year old) are very potent in inculcating new ideas into them. If its contents and the teachers indoctrinate the children, that may create unrest and destroy the wellbeing of the society.

As I understand the new study books issued by the LDF government in Kerala and specially the accompanying instruction books, to teachers have a specific agenda of

inculcating in the young minds a-religion and agnostic logic. Any religious person  cannot agree to this programme. Even if he is a bishop of a church, he is an a-religionist in Christian garbs.

It is fashionable to say that it is difficult to believe in the creation as explained in Genesis. Belief in equality of man, equity, inclusiveness in social development, and evolution theory are cliché of modernism. Those who believe in pure reason and individualism are agnostics. They question the existence of God.

I was a student in 1947 in the St.Joseph's College Trichy, where Fr. Carty, the famous economist, was my teacher. In Macro economics, he taught us the contents of Das Capital, teachings of Engels. and the history of communism. He used to roll up that topic by comparing Marxian and Christian communism and predict, that Marxian system built on enmity of man and class struggle, will wither away. Religions built upon human love towards everything around him –Universal Brotherhood- will never die. I have been fortunate to learn and see the rise and fall of the Marx-Engels-originated communism. Those who adhere to this dead wood are still sleeping under the spell.

Religion warrants implicit faith in God. Christian parents have a duty to train and procreate their children in Christian tradition and belief. Transmission of genes to progenies is done by all species. What distinguish man from animals and other flora and fauna is the long period of procreation lasting 15 to 20 years. It is during this long period that man imparts to progenies his culture, social behaviour and religion of the corporate body in which he is a member.

It was the Second Vatican Congress that highlighted the role of education and procreation in the bringing up of a Christian Child. Procreation is different from creation. While, to create is to bring into existence, to procreate is to beget. This can be, by both father and mother, and by all those with whom the child come in contact in its growing years. In the wider and more meaningful sense, beget is by the entire environment of the formative years of the child.

For the proper development of a Christian child, perhaps procreation is as equal to, as or even more important than the biological creation of the child in the studio of God; ie; the union of man and woman in wedlock. If the parents are good, they not only give good genes to their progeny, but also help the child in proper procreation. Even if the gene endowment is not good, procreation through good friends, teachers, associates and home atmosphere can make a child to grow into a role model.

In the process of procreation, the environment, school, teachers and friends of the child play a great role of augmenting or stunting the growth of its endowments and talents. If the environment is good, the child gets procreated into a good Christian. On the other hand, if the school and curriculum are not based on God, ethics and morality codes of the society in which the child is being reared up, that will result in the procreation of an intelligent devil. Hence the role of Christian school, Christian teachers and coaching in ethics are more important than the curriculum.

Almost all thinking men agree that man has, something more than his heart and brain. And, they call it, Soul. In particle physics, atom, neutrons & protons, quarks & anti-quarks or even still smaller fermions & bosons, do not contain the quality, "liquid". Then, from where came water and liquid particle in matter. Prof.Higgs Boson of the Cambridge University surmises that it is “God’s particle”. In other words God gives mass and liquidity to matter. A Rs.40,000/- crores project is currently on to prove this "God’s particle" in the Big Bang.§

Men all through the ages had belief in God. We cannot allow an already dead ideological adherents to undermine that .It is the duty and right of every citizen to preserve his culture and beliefs. We should not allow anyone to indoctrinate our progenies through changes in the class curriculum of young minds and make them atheists.

My Visit to Transfiguration Mission

By  Renu Paul
Sunday, June 29, 2008

[Renu Paul was the personal secretary of our departed Bishop, Dr. Thomas Mar Makarios at Alma College in Michigan. She visited the Mission in Madison June 19-24, 2008 and was kind to offer these reflections of her visit.]

I felt as if I were going to an Orthodox family reunion of sorts when I made a visit to the Transfiguration Mission in Madison, WI in June 2008.  Born to parents who raised me in the rich traditions of the Malankara Orthodox Church of India, I am proud to say that my Christian roots can be traced as far back as 52 A.D. when “doubting” Thomas arrived in a small island off the southwestern coast of India to share the gospel message with high-caste Hindus.  I inherited the Orthodox faith from these high-caste Hindus who were my ancestors.

Growing up, studying, and eventually becoming an American citizen, I was curious how my Oriental Orthodox faith could possibly be sustained and, perhaps even, be enriched and enlivened in the mainstream society, particularly in a country where materialism and the political guarantees of religious freedom go hand-in-hand.  With a panoply of cultures and peoples from all corners of the world congregating in the public square, I wondered how (and if) the beauty and depth of Indian Orthodox Christianity could be shared with others.  Would it be feasible outside my immediate ethnic milieu especially since evidence suggests otherwise?

Linguistic, cultural, and religious barriers are pernicious such that they seem to pose a formidable impediment to human progress and growth.  When we monitor the political happenings in the world today, national, ethnic, and racial antagonisms—whether it be in Iraq, Israel, Pakistan, Israel, or Northern Ireland—supersede the hope of human unity, no less any sense of religious unity.

After witnessing firsthand how the faithful of the Transfiguration Malankara Orthodox Mission of Orthodox Christian participated in the Divine Liturgy, I have come to the realization that Orthodox Christianity means “global” Orthodox Christianity.  There are realistic challenges of course, but they are, surmountable because of the common unity we have in the figurehead of Jesus Christ, who is our universal Shepherd, and the Church, who is our universal Mother.  I am grateful to the Lord who has opened my eyes after my visit to the Mission that “[w]ith God, all things are possible” (Mark 10: 27).  I am especially impressed by the able leadership of Fr. John Brian Paprock along with the loyal acolytes on the altar who continue the apostolic tradition handed to us so long ago.  The members of the Transfiguration Mission family—from the indefatigable energy of Teresa Kochamma  to the devotion of the old and young alike— make this community a vibrant place to worship and be.  May God continue to bless and protect His Church.

In His service,

Renu
