Dear Mr. shaju joseph

Your spirit is appreciable and while reading all your postings you
mentioned that all those 10 candidates are elegible and do you think
that those 5 who were rejected are un-suitable? If so what is the
unit that you used to evaluate that? Just as a curiocity I like to
know it.

Fr. Shebaly quoted some one's words to explain the reflection of the
memebrs of the church against the leaders and you can hear such kind
of comments among our members. And once one of our Bishops itself
narrated a joke about a plane crash that all our bishops travelled
and the last comment was a question " What happend?" and the answer
said was " The Church is saved." This is explained by one of our
Bishops.

The majority of our members are totally disappointed about the
happenings in our church and its internal and external politics, but
most of them are keeping quiet as they follows the respect of our
ancistors and that silences become a green flag to others to direct
their horse.

we can pray to get God fearing candidates for the next Bishop
election, May the Holy spirit work for that and all those happening
may be the work to clear the way and to bring the crookdness of some
one if they are really crooked it should be revealed to the public.

A list of 14 will be back after the meeting of our Holy Synod and
the problem will be solved. Our people and clergies will elect only
the qualified and no one can re-route it.

With regards,

Charly V. Padanilam, Houston , TX.

You just see the language he has used in his paper. Is it appreciable for a

you on the Bishop Election which he has written in Orthodox Herald

the Orthodox Church hierarchy. The Bishop Election basic norms are
violated by the screening committee and the list has come out with 10
Priests to be referred to Managing Committee instead of 14 Priests as

"It’s been going on an extensive activity and debate within the church.

shows them humanity."

Dear Readers,

Sub:

Media Criticism: Selection process of new Metropolitans, Abusing the mother Church by pretending integrity- an IOH model.

Ref: http://www.orthodoxherald.com/day/day.pdf

I believe that there are many readers of Orthodox Herald Online bulletin across the globe, many often misjudging the comments and opinion expressed by individuals with vested interests are as actual facts. Hence I think it is appropriate to point out some confusion generated by a set of similar messages by IOH. Hope the moderators will entertain some criticism appeared in the IOH in its true spirit and publish the following in this forum. I personally have a great respect and regard of the individuals mentioned hereunder, no question of any doubt about their personal integrity; however please allow the readers to judge the contents of such messages and my comments on it:

In a recent issue "a humble protester" in his title message under the banner headlines of an online weekly that promoted and read worldwide says the officially constituted Church body for certain specific purpose has to be relinquished.

Another `concerned`who devoted his life for his mother church says his own disillusions as a public opinion in the editorial that for the last fifteen years (just last fifteen only) the heads of the Church, (church hierarchy) has been caught in `Peterine sin'. He sincerely wishes that if he had a machine gun (AK47 model is the best choice), would have gone to the Church head quarters in Kottayam, Kerala in India and killed all the bishops there, sparing none. Since he cannot take that risk himself, like a coward he disappoints himself and call upon all the faithful for their earnest prayers that one day the people rise and accomplish his wishes.

Referring some fictitious places and people as the source of information neither relive the Editor-in-Charge from disowning the responsibility of making such false statements nor indicates that they do not subscribe to such agenda.

What angered these to gentle and reverend priests (signed the above messages with their names as Fr. Johnson, Punchakkonam and Fr.Shebaly, Editor-in-charge, in the latest edition of Orthodox Herald Saturday, 26 July 2008, Volume Iv Issue 88 - 90 Malayalam Edition) is the elimination process by the screening committee constituted by the Church which excluded some of their favourable names in the ongoing selection process of new Metropolitans.  The names that start with the exclusion list say the who's who, and why it angers them.

No wonder, these humble, gentle reverends who want to take AK47 in their hands without substantiating their charges with the correct facts and material support and running with their own prejudice and convictions are really doing the Talibanization of the Malankara Orthodox Church by abusing the holy fathers in public through a media that circulates worldwide. They misuse their privileges as ordained priests for their own selfish interests

This is making them unbecoming not only as priests but even as a layman. Those who act like a mafia for achieving their selfish motives and blackmail the Church system are the agents of devil.

If you are really concerned for your mother church, may I suggest that please resign your job from the America Diocese and go to Idukki or Kalahandi in Orissa state and serve there for a few years. I think reaching salvation through Idukki is a better choice than `American Church Incorporated'.  In case you cannot leave that sugar pot of American Inc. priesthood and believe that the day is good and the sun is shining, rather I would suggest a a small exercise at your own treasure grounds. Please make a survey of children between the age group of 5 to 25 years and study how many of them in your own parish know the full evening prayers by heart and actually recite at their homes. See the results if that's satisfying or if all such aspects are interesting to you.

To conclude, we have greater mission and role to play in taking our faith and traditions to the next generation as our forefathers handed over to us through last 20 centuries. As far as the Administrative procedures and Bishops selection and its formalities etc are concerned, let us leave to those things to who are supposed to look after officially.

Pray God Almighty may show wisdom and enlightens these reverends.

(This a re-edited version of my message sent unsuccessfully to a couple forums earlier this week.)

United in Prayers,

JOSE.G,

St.Thomas OSC, Doha, Qatar

Dear Mr. shaju,

Now there is no boundary in our Church. Didn't you notify what are
happening in our church now? decissions, rules and regulations are
in a corner and everyone is doing what they likes to do.

We are the ony ones who do not have any controll,do not follow rules
and regulations and no proper guide lines. All of those are
applicable to the faithful believers only as they are not putting
their hands to the administrtion field and even if they are there
they will keep quiet and pray.

The spirit that Mr. shaju showed is appreciable and hope you
retaliate with your spirit against all the wrong things in our
church.

With regards,

Malankara Orthodox Church and Mission

   Prof. Joseph K.Alexander
Director of Collegiate Edn, Kerala. (Retd)

When three or more Orthodox Christians of Kerala sit together, it is
fashionable to decry their Church leadership for all failures. They
are all well-meaning and their anxiety is that the Church does not
live up to their aspirations and ideals.Hence their crtitical remarks.
One such most innocuous complaint is about the failure of evangelism.

While Europe, which received Christianity only by 1500 AD, was able to
evangelize the whole of Africa, Asia and America and create more
X'ians in the colonies than their number in Europe in just 500 years;
we who have been Christians ever since St.Thomas preached to us in 52
AD, have failed to carry the Good News and proselyte the rest of
Indians; not even the rest of the Keralites. This is their lament.

Only when we critically understand the historicity and the contexity
of Malankara X'ians we will be able to pardon ourselves for this lacuna.

In fact X'ian evangelicalism and observance of the verse in St. Mathew
28:19 can be done in at least 4 or 5 different ways.

1. By preaching the good news of "Imminent Heaven at hand" and
healing the sick and the needy and even proselyte the willing hearers,
as was done by St. Paul and other Apostles.

2. Mirroring Christ by one's own life like the Judaic Christian
sanyasis. They did so because Jews were the chosen priestly class of
God. So by tradition they cannot mingle with others. They were thus
silently christianizing the society without insisting on nominal
conversions to X'ian names and rituals,

3. Proselyte by persuasion. This can be by offering rewards like
free food and other amenities of life, employment or other forms of
economic, social or even political dispensations.

4. Militant Proselytism as Europeans, particularly the
Portuguese, did during the colonial period 1500 to 1950. Bishop Tutu
of Africa complained:" They gave us the Bible and took away our land ".

5. The latest in the Western evangelicalism is the mass
evangelism of great preachers likes Billy Graham, Thanku brother in
Kottayam, and the creation of Electronic Church through television by
Oral Roberts in 1954, by Pat Robertson founding the Christian
Broadcasting network in 1960. and Paul Dinakaran in 1970s.

A basic difference between Western and Eastern Christianity is that
while the West believe in Proselytism and increasing the number of
Christians and expanding the Church by hook or crook (example: Francis
Xavier in the 1560s and Bishop Menses in Udayamperor Synod), the
original Eastern Christianity do not practice this method. They
believe in the 2nd method of Christianizing the World by their life
and preaching.

Eastern Orthodox Sages were following the Semitic and thus Judaic
practice of exclusivism. They were against spreading their religion
and laws to non-Hebrew heathens. They reclused into West Asian desert
caves. They were praying for their Church and humanity. They were
spiritual dynamos disseminating spirituality and love for their
brethren. They were not advertisers of Christ. Fr. Bijesh Philip,
Professor of Nagpur Orthodox Seminary writes in "Theosis and Mission"
a recently published book, "Mission is not a Christian commercial. It
is a witnes and an act of love. It implies love for those whom it is
directed, and love means self-giving, not simply giving something."
This proves that the Eastern Orthodox Churches (including we) were
poor evangelists in the modern or western sense.

This is one reason why the Easterners have not been able to spread out
like colonialist Christians. At the same time we cannot forget the 6th
and 7th century missionary work of the Nestorian Nisibis School
teachers and missionaries of Persia journeying to reach out to China,
Indo China, Philippines and other farthest points of the Far East to
spread their version of Christianity.

The historical and social background of Kerala St. Thomas Christians
is in this context very relevant.

1. There is truth in the tradition that some of the St. Thomas's
converts of 52 AD were Brahmins. To deny this for want of documentary
evidence is naivety. Sometimes tradition is truer than (concocted)
documents and many a time we rely on traditions for lack of
documentary evidence. St. Thomas tradition is such an undisputable
truth. One who questions it at this length of time has ulterior motives.

2. These convert Christians (Jews and Keralites) and their
associates had contact with the West Asia / Persian merchants and
their language and perhaps even were involved in facilitation of
foreign trade with them. So it was easy for them to imbibe the Judaic
customs including their exclusivism and the teachings of St. Thomas
the Apostle.

3. The more enterprising of them even entered into foreign trade
in the early centuries with West Asia and later with the Far East and
Ceylon and still later with the Portuguese and the English and made
them rich. Some became quite rich even to finance the Rajas and
Chieftains of the post-10th century Kerala. In general they were trade
associates and financially sound.

4. When there was persecution of Christians in Persia the
Christian emigrants who came to Kerala in 345 AD and in the 7th and
8th centuries were received warmly by Kerala Rajas and chieftains, who
had an eye for the income from spices trade with the west. They
offered them special privileges like the" 72 pathavikal ". These
emigrants brought their exclusivism to further strengthen this Judaic
trait of the Christians. Kerala.Knanaya Christians is a typical example

5. The exclusiveness of the Savarna-Avarna divisions of the caste
system pervaded the Kerala society from the 7th centuryAD. This helped
the Kerala Christians to perserve this exclusivism.

6. The Christian catechism and preachings made most of them
honest, upright, dependable and trust worthy

7. Kerala Christians used to get military training in the
"Kalaries" from the early age of eight onwards and hence were
dependable warriors. Due to their dependability and Kalari training
the army chieftains of many of the petty kingdoms in the post 10th
Century melee of Kerala, were Christians

8. These factors and specially the 72 "pathavikal" made Kerala
Christians to be on a par with the Savarna Brahmins. They were a
separate social, economical and politically respectable group outside
the four Varnas.

It was these historical and contextual factors that made Kerala
Christians an exclusive upper class that could not mix with the
gentiles and evangelise Christ to the lower castes in Kerala and make
them their own brethren. .

The St. Thomas Syrian Christians and emigrants from Persia
constituted the main stream Christians till the coming of the
Portuguese. They were called Nazarenes L.K.Ananthakrishna Iyer in his
famous book "Anthropology of the Syrian Christians" explains in detail
about their indigenous aristocratic customs and manners. They refused
to mingle with the lower castes or have intermarriages with others. I
am not citing this as a virtue but as a historical fact.

Dr.C.Issac in his article "The spread of Christianity and Islam in
Keralam" published in Itihas Darpan, New Delhi, Vol VIII, No.1, Nov.
2001, pp 41-48, argue that they intermarried and imbibed Hindu
customs. This is not correct in the case of the excluvist Nazarenes.
This is true only about the converts of St. Francis Xavier and the
Portuguese.So Dr. Isaac's statement, after quoting G.T.Mckenzie
"Christianity in Travancore", that they were Sudra Jathis like Nairs,
Elavas doing "uliam" work, applies only to the new converts by the
Portuguese.

The stranglehold of the Caste system has eased in this century.
Moreover large amount of westernism have been imported during the last
four centuries into the Malankara Christians. Roman Catholic Church,
Protestant Churches of various hues have all emerged. All of them
believe in evangelism and proselytism. Even the Kerala Orthodox
Christians have been persuaded to ease their stand on the caste
consciousness. We also started evangelism. The first proclaimed Indian
Saint St. Parumala Mar Gregorios converted a few dalits to our Church.
H.G. Pathros Mar Ostathios continued that work in a bigger manner in
the 1940s and later actively followed by H.G Geevarghese Mar Osthathios.

The point made by Denny Jacob in ICON on 19 Jul, 2008 that the
Brahmawar Mission of Bishop Julius Alvaris in S. Karnataka converted a
number of poor dalit farmers is true. But that was a post- Portuguese
practice and was not in Kerala.

But let it be remembered that even now we do not believe in or
practice militant evangelism or proselytism. But Kerala Orthodox
Christian expatriates in USA, Gulf, Europe, Malayasia, Australia and
other parts of the World have globalised our church with parishes in
different parts of the world. Kerala Christians have thus evolved a
new type of evangelism that can be termed as "Global Evangelism".

Acting in Faith?

Is faith more important than works? No, Apostle James, in his epistle,
speaks to a powerful synergy of faith in action - the working out of
salvation in our worldly lives. Scriptures:
James 2:14-26 ; Leviticus 19:13-18 and a verse from Joshua (23:14), starting
with an apostolic reminder from Mark 6:7-13

Fr. Shebaly crossed the boundary

Dear All

Pls read the editorial of
http://www.orthodox herald.com/ day/day.pdf.

The preists of the Orthodox Church will have different opinion about
the decission of Church leadership. But usually they express it with
respect and fear. But here a preist like fr.shebaly does not have to
fear any body ? How this situation happened ?

Being a kassisa of our church, Fr. Shebaly has crossed all the boundary.

His well wishers are not there in the new metropolitan list. So he
wants to take AK 47 and shoot all metropolitans! !

Still he continueing as a presit in our church!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! !!!

Glad news is that his freind Fr. Punchakkonal also reached US.

So we can expect more from 'Uncle Sams'

"Shubho" - Radio Malankara - - A new venture of SOCM

Dear All

Barakmore / Shlomo

On the eve of our 8th birthday, SOCM-Forum is crossing another
milestone in its development, by adding another activity to its
operation. We have started an Internet radio named as "Shubho", for
those members who love to listen the beauty of the Syriac Orthodox
Worships, liturgical, traditional and special occasions songs, as
well as hearing spiritual messages. It will be officially broadcasted
from 10th September 2008.

In the Syriac Aramaic language, "Shubho" means, "Glory"

Psalms 150: 1-6 says

1: Praise ye the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary:
praise him in the firmament of his power.

2: Praise him for his mighty acts:
praise him according to his excellent greatness.

3: Praise him with the sound of the trumpet:
praise him with the psaltery and harp.

4: Praise him with the timbrel and dance:
praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

5: Praise him upon the loud cymbals:
praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

6: Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD.

These verses alone is our great inspiration for this project.

This project is initiated by SOCM-FORUM and it was a collective and
successful effort of our faithful from different parts of the world.
The mission of the team behind "Shubho" is to praise HIM and to
uphold the true faith of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, handed
over to us by our forefathers, as well as to make a platform for all
Syriac Orthodox Christians around the world to listen the beauty of
the Holy Syriac Orthodox Church worship. Our vision is to
take "Shubho" to new heights and to be the premier broadcasting
station of its kind on internet.

We are fully aware that the e-radio "Shubho" is presently in its
infancy and its further development and success will be entirely
dependent on your right feed back and encouragement. The test
broadcasting is now started on a 24-hrs basis, and you can hear it on
the following URL: http://www.radiomalankara.org . We request all of
you to hear the radio and give us your valuable comments about the e-
radio.

Also please support us by remembering this project in your prayers
and providing us more audio (MP3) recordings of Syriac Orthodox
worship, songs of different occasions and spiritual talks of our
prelates, clergy and church recognized lay ministers.

We submit this project for the ultimate glory of our Lord Almighty
and for the Holy Church.

Keep us also in your prayers,

In Our Lord's Love
SOCM Forum Moderators.

Dear Thomas Chandy,

Extremely happy to learn that you are a student of history. I am not and am only an economist

I957, in the annals of Kerala State is important as it is the year in which the communist party came to power for the first time and that too, by the election process. It was the election after the formation of Kerala State on 01-11-1956. They got a clear majority in the election. The ban on the party was lifted to fight the election. But those who had criminal cases against them, feared, that they may be arrested by the police if they come out. So they remained underground in the “eyes of the law and police”, even when they filed their nominations for the election. Mr. Balachandra Menon of Chittur- Cochin was such a candidate. He didn’t address a single public meeting to appeal to the voters. Still he got elected with a clear majority. There were many such cases.

In 1959 with the "Vimochana Samaram", the Govt. was forced out and after elections the first coalition Ministry came to power in Kerala, with Congress, PSP and Muslim League in the coalition.

The first public election was in 1954 after the formation of the Travancore –Cochin State. I was appointed by the Election Commission as a presiding officer in that. The next public election was in 1957 after the formation of the Kerala State I was then a lecturer gazetted officer in the Govt. College, Chittur. I knew Mr Balachandra Menon. I lived through all those happenings. I was also one of the presiding officers in that election in that constituency.  My students in the College and students of the nearby High School went around canvassing for Mr. Balachandra Menon. One of them is an MP and is in the CPI.

It is about this election that late Dr.R. Ramakrishnan Nair HoD of Politics, Kerala University wrote his PhD Thesis. I refer you to the Book. In the 1965 election, again communist party won and that was mainly as Mr. Chandy pointed out due to the infighting in the Congress. I hope this will make the matter clear.

Prof Joseph Alexander.

A True Disciple of Christ

Dear all

I do not know how many of you may have the patience and time to read
this lengthy story. This is the story of a middle class woman from
Kerala who became a true disciple (according to me) of Jesus Christ in
a remote village in Madhya Pradesh, but without telling a word about
Christ.

Last week I met a wonderful person. By the way I am currently in St.
Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary, Nagpur, completing a one month
teaching assignment, and this person came to give few lectures to the
mission students in the seminary. Her name was Ms. Mercy Mathew, a
middle aged woman originally from Palai, in Kerala. But now she is
called Daya Bhai by those who know her.
This is her story
She joined a convent in Kerala as customary for almost all Catholic
families in Palai. She was constantly been troubled by a question. The
question was, why there should be this gap between rich and poor, man
and woman, wise and not wise, high class and low class, haves and have
nots? This question about the gap between the same creations of God
bothered her a lot. There were answers from all quarters. Some said,
it is destined by God, some others said, it is the caste that decides
it, some said, nature is with diversity. But none of these satisfied
her. So she kept on asking this question for herself.
She then went to Mumbai for her MSW course. After the first year she
dropped out and went back to the convent. She was not happy there. She
worked with several charity organizations. She felt that most of them
did not really dealt with the question, rather only accepted the
status quo and worked within that framework. So she went back to
complete her course after eight years. While she was on a project she
happened to visit a village in the interior of Madhya Pradesh state.
There was a tribe which was once a royal tribe of the region. But all
in that tribe were poor and illiterate. Some of them received notices
from bank authorities and they could not read it. They approached her
to read it for them. They were recovery notices. It seemed they had
received loans from the World Bank for the developmental and
agricultural activities of the village. They remember that some
politicians and officers came to them some time back, offered them
loan for digging wells, constructing roads, buying fertilizers, cattle
and such things. But they were never told how to use the money and how
it will be recovered. They were told that the money comes from World
Bank. Since they were not experts in many of these areas, they used
the money as they liked and no development ever happened. Now they
have to pay the loan back.

Sr. Mercy decided to work with them. But they would not let her come
near them as she was an outsider and hence an untouchable. She would
be asked to sit in the corner of a house and no one would touch her or
any thing belonging to her. She says, "For the first time, I knew the
intensity and shame of being an untouchable" . She decided to become
part of the community. Her congregation of sisters was not prepared to
allow her do that. But the then Nagpur bishop accepted her as part of
his diocese and allowed her do that and gave her complete freedom
after she having explained him what she was trying to do.

She changed her style of wearing the sari, kind of food she ate, the
dialect of her language and the kind of life style she followed. She
worked with them in the fields for five rupees a day. She cooked the
same food they would eat and lived in a sort of make shift hut another
woman helped her make. Slowly they accepted her as part of their
community. Now she looks exactly like one among them. She is with
wrinkles all over her face, wearing several stone necklaces and
earrings, and skinny in the same kind of clothing.
She helped them deal with the government officers, politicians and
with officers of the bank. Thus she gained their confidence and became
part of the community. Seeing her dedication and love towards them,
the villagers asked her to become Sar Panch (panchayat president). She
resisted, but accepted the post of a member of the panchayat. She
worked with them for them to get decent wage, establish a school and
to do agriculture in a more profitable way. She has received several
awards and honors. Last year "Vanitha" a publication of Malayala
Manorama group honored her with "Woman of the Year" award. This year
she will receive an award from "Vigil India" movement, which works
among the backward communities in South India, established by Rev.
M.A. Thomas of Marthoma Church, (Dr. Siby Tharaka is the present
Director). She has worked with these people in Chinvada District of
Madhya Pradesh almost three decades. Now she is part of that community
and works for their welfare and freedom. They trust her. Few years
back she visited her father in Palai. Seeing her with some of the
teeth fallen from physical attacks she received during her life in the
village from land lords and their criminal associates (this she had to
face not once), and the wrinkles on the face and skinny body he asked,
was this much necessary? There was a picture of the crucified Jesus
Christ on the front wall of the house, she pointed at it and asked him
"was that much necessary"? He did not say a word (her father passed
away recently).
After all these, now her concern is, the way the young generation of
the villages is attracted by the modern life style they see on the TV.
She thinks her mission is not yet over.

Indianized Version Of Bible Hit Among Christians
Source: http://sify.com/news/fullstory.php?id=14714631

MUMBAI, INDIA, July 13, 2008: An "Indianized" version of the Bible released
in India has become a huge hit among the Christian community. The Bible has
proved to be extremely popular among the Catholics in Mumbai where over
15,000 copies were sold out within ten days of its release. An interesting
feature of this Bible is that it has drawn references to other religions
like Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism.

"What made it special was that they have also drawn the Indian mythology
into it. It's not only based on Bible and its foreign stories," said Corin
Mendonsa, a buyer of the book. Another interesting thing about the book is
that it depicts Mother Mary and other characters in typical Indian clothes.

According to the Catholic community this Bible is getting a good response
from the market. The new Bible, which has about 2,200 pages, costs just Rs
250.

On going through the postings of Milithos Thirumeni on the above subject, I have one question. What St. Paul wrote to Corinthians was at a time when the Church was just about taking its roots: hence the possibility of one of the partners in a marriage being a Christian and the other a non Christian could have been quite possible, But is that applicable now especially in the case of persons born and brought up in Christian families? In my humble openion, this can be acceptable only in cases where a non Christian becomes Christian and his/her spouse continues in another religion.

Again in St, Pauls direction it is not stated that the offspring should be brought up as children with no religion, but states clearly that they be Christians i.e. Holy.

I am not trying to link this to the controversial lesson in 7th Std text book, What is stated therein is the stance of a secular democratic State, But all that I am saying is that it is not right to draw parallel with the directions of St,Pauls to Corinthians.

Incidentally, I do not understand how Orthodox Church can object to the portions in textbooks which can be interpreted as pro-communist. The Sunday school text book of Orthodox Church teaches what Communism is, refer to the text book prescribed by Orthodox Sunday School association for classXI, Unit no3, lesson 11 .The contents of the text book is a very factual and objective analysis of the ideology, not a downright criticism. If a church text book can say so much how can the church behave like how a bull reacts to red colour when some distant correlation to communism is smelt in a secular text book!

I am afraid Mr.Joseph Alexander got facts wrong on the second posting also.Communist candidates were not in jail during 1957 elections,it was in 1965 elections that most of the CPM candidates faught the elections from jail and won.As aperson observing and analysing history,I have not come across any published doccument which attributes success of Communist partiy in 1957 toStudent wing.In fact in 50s and in 60s all leading student organisations pretended that they have no relationship with any political party, although the whole world knew which studentsunion was with which party.

Success of Communist party in 1957 was due to infighting in congress which saw repaeted topling of ministries in Travancore Cochin state, uprising of agriculture labourers who faced generationsof oppression from the fudel overlord, the dramas of Thoppil Bhasi like NINGAL ENNE COMMUNISTAKKI which was staged at hundredsof stages in Kerala,a younger and dynamic leadership with grassroot support,Pattam Thanupillais breaking away from Congress and joining PSP,formation of the State of kerala by adding Malabar which was in the state of Madras etc.To attribute it to students involvement in electioneering is an incorrect and oversimplification of facts. If anyone has reported that way to Congress highcommand they were ony misleading the HC
