The Russian Church stands for Orthodox people’s guards

Moscow, November 20, Interfax â€" Renowned priest suggested that
Russia should form voluntary people’s guards to keep order.

“We have pretty much people and groups that have almost enslaved
life of a street, a district, a town, a village, and I believe that
Orthodox guards can establish order in their locality and thus
establish order throughout Russia,” deputy chairman of the Moscow
Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations Archpriest
Vsevolod Chaplin said on air of the Radonezh Radio.

According to him, “not only police should maintain public order, it
should become an affair of the whole nation.” “If people take it in
their hands, the order will be set much quicker,” the priest said.

Thus, he went on to say, “Russia badly needs” provincial
governments, local communities.

I heartily agree with Mr Charly, our factional differences should not
be cause for turning away from someone in need.

What is the lesson of the parable of the Good Samaritan that was
taught by Christ himself.

Differences , disputes and fights will always be there, let us
understand that the walls that divide us do not always rise up to heaven.

May the good work done by Moolayil achen , bear abundant fruit.

Donating dress for the needy during the Christmas is a very good and
appreciable work and that is one of the teaching of our savior Jesus
Christ. I appreciate that work and we need to help to fullfill that
project. As it is a very nominal amount many people can participate
in this and that small thing will be a great thing for the poor and
needy. Leave a dinner/lunch at a restaurant and donate that money
and that make miracles.

When I read that project, I am so happy and I expressed it to Rev.
Moolayil Cor-Eppiscoppa. Please open your heart and give a hand of
support. Let us do some good work together even we fight in Church.

The important matter is that what they are doing and not who are
doing. Let us pray to God for sending His angel of peace so that we
will have more strength to do the work that Our Savior taught us to
do.

May God bless us all.

The Throne of Antioch (or for that matter elsewhere)

One important factor that needs to be remembered in relation to the Thrones of Church prelates is that none of the Apostles established thrones anywhere. In fact during the early centuries of  Christianity the Church was functioning as an underground organization in the Roman Empire and many other parts of the world.Persian Empire and India were among the exceptions since the rulers of those countries were tolerant to Christianity.
Only after Emperor Constantine embraced Christianity  the Christians could enjoy Civil liberties in the Roman Empire(to the limited extent it was available to the citizens of the empire)But that triggered persecution of Christians in Persian Empire.
Church structure underwent a lot of changes thereafter and the administration was modeled mostly on the Roman Civil Administration. From a simple structure consisting of Decons,Elders(Kassissos)and Episcopa, the priestly order got many more layers .Probably it must have been a requirement to cope with the administration of a fast growing body of the laity.
Establishment of Patriarchates/Catholicates/Papacy were part of this development and each of the Prelates came to be known as successors to the founder of the Church in that place and later Thrones of the founder came in as a flowery description of this historic fact.
Splits and further splits in the Church found more than one occupant to each throne.Political changes necessitated shifting of the headquarters of such high Church dignitaries. As we know The even the Pope of the Catholic Church had to shift HHs headquarters from Rome more than once.
.To put things in perspective-:
A)Location,Designations,Thrones etc are only part of the powerstucture in the management of the Church organization and not part of the Gospel truth
B)More important is the faith preached by the respective Churches and their message conveyed to the world by their Mission
C)It is time for the laity to ponder whether the hierarchy as it exists today needs revisions/amendments consummate to the prevailing conditions of the world we live in.

The opinion for organizing an anti KEFA sqad is not at all advisable
as it is not our policy and faith.

We are not the community to do what the Jacobites are doing. That is
the difference of our church from the other. Our it is enphasized in
the welcome speech of Secretary Georgie " Our Bava thirumeny is
praying for the universe when all are sleeping, Our Bava Thirumeny is
not invading the church but the Thirumeny of Protecting the Church."
It was so meaning ful words. If KEFA is doing the terrorism and
vamndalism then the Government is there to handle the law and order.
If they fail to do that then we have different way and organizing
militant group is not a solution to that.

"Val edukkunnavan Vaalaal Nashikkum." That is the teaching of our
Jesus Christ. and we can see that words are long standing and that
is the truth. We are not the people to adopt any satanic advises and
we never follow the way that the Patriarchal side is following. Our
strength is the prayer life our spiritual fathers as well as our
faithful followers and that we earned through our spiritual life and
that is why we are winning in the court cases.

Some times the Govt. may ignore us but the time will prove that we
are in the correct path.

The angels of God is with us to protect our Church and any threats
shall be smashed by the light of our God.

"Murukky kottu nirthananu." Thats what the puthan kurishu is doing.

May God bless us all .

With regards,

Charly V. Padanilam, Houston, TX.

Dear all,

It is Christmas time again. Last Christmas, thanks to 3 donors from
Kuwait who wish to remain anonymous, we were able to bring happiness
into the lives of the Theeram trainees.

(http://icsctheeram.org/ please click link to learn more about
Theeram.)

All 168 of them received a new set of clothes. Most of them wore the
same dress when they came for the Theeram Fest in August this year.
It may be a show of the sentiments they attach to our gift or
because they had no other decent dress. Both may be true.

This time if we all contribute in a small way, we can bring happiness
not only into their lives but also into the lives of the elderly
attending the Tsunami project. The total number, I am told, would be
around 200.

If we spare USD 36, we can provide a set of dress for 3 people.

Let this be a project of all members of the Friends of Theeram. Those
who are willing to donate this small amount to bring a cheer into the
lives of these people who are less fortunate than us.

Please participate in this by remitting your contribution directly to

Now our Church is stepping in to the political game with firm steps
and this should have to take some times before. I am congratulating
everyone and especially Dr. George Joseph for the wise step.

We suffered a lot by the political game of HB Thomas I with his
partnership with the communist party and some UDF leaders. When we
asked the Nehru stadium for our function in Kottayam, the Municipal
body rejected the permission with an explanation that the stadium
will only used for sports events and not for any other meeting, but
they cleverly forgot that the political meeting of the Communist
party used the same stadium a few months before. They thought that the
MOSC is a dead Lion, but they realized that they are wrong. The goal
that the municipal ruling front kicked to our court has retaliated
and kicked back with an unimaginable strength. The communist party
smelled the power of retaliation of the MOSC and strongly condemned
the action of the party members for supporting the decision of the
Municipal ruling party decision for not granting the permission.

The party leaders revised their decission and offered the same
stadium for the meeting but our leadership rejected that offer as we
have the strength to stay without the mercy or sentiment of a
political party. We are the deciding the future of the political
party and they are not the deciding factor of our Church movements.
Now we showed the real spirit of the blood, the bioling blood of the
Children of MY Malankara Orthodox Church.

Tomorrow a vote of confidence motion against the present Municipal
chairperson of the Kottayam Municipality is going to take place based
on their decision to not to grant permission to MOSC to conduct the
meeting in Nehru stadium. I am happy in that action whether it is
passed or not. Let the LDF and UDF know that we the MOSC was keeping
silent when we were tortured since long time and we know how to beat
back when it is necessary.

Congratulation and praying for the success in the vote of confidence
motion as well as the "Maha Sammelanam." The Lord is with our Church.

This "Rally" and the vote of confidence motion against the Municipal
chairperson is an icon to all the political parties and to the Puther
kurishu fraction.

Today, five church hierarchs claim the title of Patriarch of
Antioch, three of whom are in full communion with the Pope of Rome.
(These three head autonomous churches that are part of the Catholic
Church; though they are in communion with the Holy See, they are not
the part of the Latin Church, but are instead Eastern Catholic
Churches.) All five see themselves as part of the Antiochene
heritage and claim a right to the Antiochene See through apostolic
succession, although none are actually based in the city of Antakya.
This multiplicity of Patriarchs of Antioch as well as their lack of
location in Antioch, reflects the troubled history of Christianity
in the region, which has been marked by persecution and internecine
struggles since the Islamic conquest. Indeed, the Christian
population in the original territories of the Antiochene patriarchs
has been all but eliminated by assimilation and expulsion, with the
region's current Christians forming a small minority.

Depending on how history and the canons of the Church are
interpreted each Patriach's claim to the original See of Antioch can
be sustained with proof as follows:
If Flavian II was Patriarch until his death then it means that

the Melkite, Greek Orthodox and Maronite Patriarchs are the
continuation of the original See and Severus was not Patriarch at
any time and thus the Syriac Catholic and Syriac Orthodox Patriarchs
are not the continuation of the original See.

‘Orthodox church denied its rights’

Over a lakh people expected to attend the meeting

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

KOTTAYAM: For the first time after the declaration of the 1995 final
verdict in the church case, the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church has
decided to come out in a show of strength demanding justice from
those in authority and implementation of the provisions of the
verdict.

Talking to mediapersons at the Catholicate Palace here on Thursday,
Catholicos-designate Paulos Mar Milithios said the public show of
strength scheduled for Sunday was meant to draw the attention of all
to the reality behind the church controversy (between the Malankara
Orthodox Syrian Church and the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church).
The Orthodox church had sought only the implementation of the final
verdict of the Supreme Court in the case. All issues that had
cropped up after the final verdict should be resolved on the basis
of the final verdict, he said.

According to him, the Jacobite church was a new one with a fresh
constitution and as such it had no claim over the properties and
institutions of the Orthodox church which was governed by the 1934
constitution that was recognised by the Supreme Court. On many
occasions, he said, the Orthodox church was denied its legitimate
rights, the latest being the police action against church members a
few weeks ago. Making it clear that the Orthodox church was not
ready to give in to the claims of the Jacobite church on the
ownership of Thrikkunnathu Seminary, he said those who made claims
should make it clear why they had not produced the documents on
ownership in the court so far.

The church would like to see a permanent solution, but it should be
on the basis of the final verdict of the Supreme Court, he said.

The church leaders alleged that Minister S. Sarma had interfered in
the Thrikkunnathu Seminary issue against the legitimate rights of
the Orthodox church. Such politically motivated interventions had
denied the church the justice it deserved, they said.

They said the meeting would reflect the sentiments of the people
against the authorities who refused the church its legitimate
demands. Malankara Association secretary George Joseph said they
expected a gathering of one lakh members at the public meeting.

The Biography of Kadavil Paulose Mar Athanasius "Karmasheshiyude Kathal" written
in Malayalam by Dr. M. Kurian Thomas & Joice Thottackad and published by MOC
Publications is a very well researched book and has been
written with the help of historical documents.

Apart from the biography of Kadavil Thirumeni, the book also gives a clear
picture with regard to the beginning of Thrikkunathu Seminary - its
reasons
and the people who worked behind it.

This book depicts facts about the history of Thrikkunathu Seminary. The
seminary was set up as per the decision of the Holy Church and not
according
to the will of one or two persons. It was decided to have a Seminary for
the students from North Kerala and they found a place in Thrikkunathu near
Alwaye and another for South Kerala students in Parumala. Since
Thrikkunathu
falls under the jurisdiction of Angamaly diocese its diocesan metropolitan
Kadavil Paulose Mar Athanasius was in charge of running the seminary.

You can read the whole book at the following link.
http://www.malankaraorthodox.tv/Kadavil/Kadavil%20Biography.pdf

Dr. M. Kurian Thomas & Joice Thottackad have put in lot of efforts and
have
researched many a historical documents for this biography. The official
publication department of our church MOC publications are the
publishers of
this book which further proves the authenticity of this effort.

It is quite incidental that this book has been published at the time when
there are lot of talks about Thrikkunathu Seminary and people going around
with 'wills'. I am sure for people who would like to rely on facts, this
will be a good reading. The Seminary was not a private property that
it can
be given to a person by one's own will.

Kadavil Paulose Mar Athanasius Thirumeni passed away in Nov 1907. The
Catholicate in Malankara was not established until 1912 so the
reference to
the Antiochian Patriarch in this book is similar to the reference
St.Dionysius (Vattasseril) made in his Madhoupadesha Sarangal which was
written prior to 1912. St.Dionysius himself in one of his court deposition
after the establishment of Catholicate, on questioning him with regard to
his reference to the Antiochian Patriarch in Madhoupadesha Sarangal, has
said that if he had to write the said book now (on the day of
deposition) he
would have written it differently because at the time of writing the book
there was no Catholicate established in Malankara and the Antiochian
Patriarch was considered to be the spiritual head of the Church. So
readers
just don't jump into conclusion on the basis of what was written 100 years
ago. Take into account the facts that took place after.

Dr. M. Kurian Thomas & Joice Thottackad - You have done a great job. May
God bless you abundantly to bring out similar publications in future
so that
the world knows the truth behind gossips and rumors.

The result of the new bielection in Thiruvalla to the civic bodies are
against the UDF as well as against the LDF.

People find the wrong leadership of both LDF and the UDF and that made
many to not to vote for any and others voted for BJP.

The Malankara Orthodox People in Kerala from Thiruvalla casted their
votes to the ballot of BJP too and that made the reverse of the result.

Jose uncle is leaving from Abu Dhabi after 40 years of expatriate life in
the Gulf. He is one of the senior most member of Abu Dhabi St. George
Cathedral. A loving kind, admiring and God fearing personality, He is a
living orthodox church encyclopedia

After taking Masters in Public Administration, worked for Kerala State
Electricity Board for two years and later reached Abu Dhabi. Served
the UAE
Armed Forces for 29 years. Is one of the founder members of St. George
Orthodox Cathedral, He is the first secretary of the Orthodox Youth
Movement
unit in UAE. has served as the member of the Managing Committee,
Secretary,

free
lance journalist, Editor of Orthodox Herald and Voice of Orthodoxy
(both web
publications) Writes regularly articles in ICON and the contemporary
periodicals in addition to weekly devotional thoughts in SGOS and SOCM.

We, the younger generation who came to Gulf in the recent past are able to
understand the early stages of Abu Dhabi and our Cathedral history from
Jose uncle. We always get amazed about his memory power. He can say the
date and time of each and every important milestone of our church viz.
date
of permission from Abu Dhabi Govt., laying of church foundation stone etc.
at any time. I think he is working more than 15 hrs per day in
internet for
the online publications related to our church. We can see him online even
very late at night. When I am preparing this article, he is online. We Abu
Dhabians will have a great gap due to his transfer of residence. He is a
good teacher. If we have any doubt regarding our faith, even any word from
Malayalam to English , just call or Mail him, he will reply immediately .
Most of the publication from Abu Dhabi church was through Jose uncle.
We are
not satisfied if he didn't see the proof before publishing anything here.

Patriarch, Das Kapital, Politics, Oriental Orthodoxy etc.

Some expect the Patriarch of Antioch to change is attitude after
reading Das Kapital from the communists in Kerala.

This reminds me of a story I heard about fake currency notes in India
a while ago.

A person printed fake Indian currency note worth Rs.15/- each. He took
it to a shop and bought cigarettes worth Rs.5/- and gave the shop
keeper one Rs.15/- note. The shop keeper was surprised but accepted
the same. Later he returned the balance by way of two notes worth
Rs.7/- and Rs.3/- totaling to Rs.10/- I leave it to the readers to
interpret the rest of the story.

If you have to live according to simple Christian principle you don't
have to read Das Kapital or the Oriental Orthodox faith. The Holy
Bible in itself is more than enough. This is not to denounce my faith
in Oriental Orthodoxy.

Even though Karl Marx lived most of his life in poverty the present
day communists are bourgeoisie. As such in what way will it matter in
a bourgeoisie presenting a book to another bourgeoisie?

Jesus says in St. Matthew 15:14, Leave them; they are blind guides. If
a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit."

The Indian Orthodox church had has and will have people who believe in
communism than any other churches in Kerala. The various social
welfare programs the church has undertaken is the best example.
However they have never been affiliated to any communist party.

Puthencruz society does not have any grudge against UDF. They have
more people belonging to their 'faith' in UDF. They just pretend they
are against UDF and for name sake they have the Alwaye lathi charge to
highlight to express their anguish. Has anybody bothered to find out
the reason for the lathi charge?

The Puthupally Patriarchal Centre, entry into Thrikkunathu seminary
are only a very few favors the Society got during the tenure of UDF.
There are many more which are not known to the public. To get their
work done they will be goody goody with the ruling front. This will
change around like HG JGregorios said, "we would like to be always
with the ruling front". With the recent visit of HH the coffers are
full and they can put an end to many an investigations and also start
'piece machines' which has already started in Thrissur, Kandanadu &
Angamally dioceses to begin with. One can imagine if the police/CBI
investigations against the atrocities of KEFA are brought to light,
this society will cease to exist. But this is where we call "God's own
country", because God is always benevolent and ready to forgive' so
the real culprits will never be caught. The minister they praise the
most is the Home Minister who is notorious to cover up many a criminal
activities and as he controls the police investigation they will keep
him always pleased with his requirements. Those who does not please
him will suffer.

May be the Peshitha version of St. Luke 16:9 " I tell you, use worldly
wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you
will be welcomed into eternal dwellings." must be interpreted
according to the convenience of the society members.

If Sister Abhaya's case is still under CBI investigation, one can
imagine what will be the fate of Malankara Varghese's case.

I have read the posting about the fractional fight, the Patriarchal
visit and the protest program of our Church. I am wondering about all
those activities are staging in the name of a Patriarchies in
Antioch. Why should we brothers need to fight for the namesake of
the Syrian person?

When I am hearing the fractional fight and the advises for peace I am
really feeling to laugh. I know I am not the only one who feels it.
But the Majority of our members who knows the real fact will laugh

This fractional fight starts with the political opportunism of few
people who are fascinated by the titles and that sugar coated with
some other spiritual stories. Fortunately or unfortunately I know
some of the real fact of that. No one can make a re-unification of
this fractions in our Church and not only that but I also feels many
groups are forming in our Church same as the old Karunakaran group
and Antony group in Congress party and Achuthanandan group and
Pinarayee group in Marxist party.

If the Puthan Kurishu fraction and MOSC sit on a round table for a re-
conciliation talk; will Patriarchis, St. Thomas or St. Peter be a
subject of discussion? NEVER. But the subject will be about who
can get the Titles of the spiritual fathers and who can get the post
of the Almaya leaders. That only will be the subject and with out
making a compromise on that subject no one can bring a re-
conciliation agreement and that is not going to be possible and that
is why the people who knows the reality saying that a re-union with
puthan kurishu party is not at all possible. Then why should we need
to play the games and these mimics' parades? Those only a waste of
time and waste of money.

The Patriarchies want His supremacy, Many want to become the
Catholicos in India, and many want to be the Sabha trustee and
secretary of the Church. More over to this all the clergies those
are not married want to be the Bishops except very few. So instead
of playing the part of a drama it will be better to get rid of the
Puthan kurishu and put an end to this mockery games. Then we need to
see only the dramas of our inside people and that is also
not "sahikable". We the laymen have no choice except to
shout "Keejay" to all these un orthodox and un-Christian activities.
These activities may inspirit the people to think the AK-47 story and
the journey of the Bishops in the aircraft over Atlantic river are
having some sense. Up to an extend we cannot blame anyone if they
think so.

The offerings that the faithful people depositing in the boxes are
spending for court cases and some others and that is the only result
of all these. If the leader Thomas I of puthan Kurishu playing
Gundayism then take the money from our box and play an anti gundayism
and put an end to that. It may be more practical because the Govt.
is also not recognizing the court order. Instead of sinning the whole
time of a generation it will be better to put an end in a short time.

Now the Thrikunnathu seminary game is coming and the Marxist party
already planned to shake hand with puthan Kurishu leaders. They
entered the cemetery in last two years illegally with the support of
the Government that they purchased by money and propaganda. We can
see the game of puthan Kurishu in this year too.

Father focuses on the encounter of God in the temple in the prophecy of
