There was a revolver in The Adventure of the Three Garridebs but was it
Holmes' - or James Winter's (alias Morecroft alias Killer Evans of sinister
and murderous reputation)?

Subject: [sherlock holmes society of india] Holmes' Tools
Hello Group,
I was quite curious as to any reference or conclusion relating to
the tools or paraphernalia commonly carried by Holmes in his
investigations.
I believe (on an unsubstantiated- speculation -hunch only) that
Holmes carried a gun. Most likely
a small derringer of .32 calibre. Watson would have carried a
Webley break action revolver in .455 calibre.
Perhaps Holmes also carried a "glass", lock-pick tools, multiplex
pocket knife, money ...coins maybe paper also. Most certainly a few
gold soverigns.
In other words, how did the great detective prepare his "tools of
the trade" for his numerous engagements.
I have not found any reference or educated guess on this topic.
Any response to my inquiry would be certainly be appreciated.
