Thanks for the response to my question on Holmes' detective tool kit.
I remember at some time ago there was speculations in many of the
Apocryphal tales. But this is deductive reasoning using Holmes own
methods. I am uncertain where I read it, Annotated Holmes or one of
the others. My book collection on Holmes is rather humble. And as we
know, "memory is a frail craft"
The stories have elements that clearly are alluded to ; but may have
been included at one time by Doyle only for his own reference...and
somehow these elements transposed into the stories themselves.,...
but edited out by someone along the line. These possibilities I am
sure would have been mentioned by Doyle, as he attempted to provide
a cold reasonong example of a human automaton detective.
So these missing pieces become the delicious minutae of fellow
Sherlockians.
I will reveal that I am working on a book at this time. And many of
the research questions I intend pose are for inclusion.
Thanks to all................................
Also......The best work by Doyle in Holmes" world, is a personal
choice which reflects our own desire to appreciate Holmes the
detective.............for what Doyle intended.........
truth.........justice...........honor.........kind heartedness......
.........and a brute intellect of relentless voracity.....
for these qualities, my favorite is The Empty House
Best Regards ,
