Any literary detectives among the members? On the 26 October 1895, A. Conan
Doyle published a letter in a New York journal 'The Critic' as follows:



'Sir, - Will you allow me through your columns to warn your readers against
a book called Strange Secrets, which is being sold with my name on the
cover? Out of a large number of stories, only one is mine - a very short
one in the middle of the book.'



Does anyone know anything about that 'very short' story by Arthur Conan
Doyle?



Incidentally, Doyle was doing a great deal of travelling in 1894/5 to judge
by the addresses on letters he published in magazines and newspapers, for
example:



A letter in the Daily Chronicle January 1 1895, posted from Davos Platz
dated December 27 1894

A letter from the Grand Hotel Caux, dated September 30 1895

A letter from the Mena House Hotel, Pyramids, Cairo, dated December 30 1895,
published in The Times January 7 1896
