Hi All,
Good to know that most of us have gone through the TOI article.
My "favorite" (that is just a hair-breadth term, given the complete
canon) is "The Adventure of the Priory School" for the simple
uniqueness of its last three lines:
<extract>
"Thank you," said he, as he replaced the glass. "It is the second
most interesting object that I have seen in the North."
"And the first?"
Holmes folded up his check and placed it carefully in his
notebook. "I am a poor man," said he, as he patted it affectionately,
and thrust it into the depths of his inner pocket.
</extract>
Maybe I am whimsical, but it puts me a bit closer to Holmes when he
is shown as a "bread-and-butter" man inspite of the super-human he
really is because of his dedication to his work (art) for the sake of
work (art) in itself.
While we are at it, maybe we can have a list of favorite pastiches
too.
Regards,
Ketan
