Hello,
we have two stories of Holmes without Watson: "The Blanched Soldier" and
"The Lion's Mane." In both, Holmes says that it is difficult for him to work
without having Watson to guide him in his deductions.
When the BBC adapted these stories for radio in the 1960s, Michael Hardwick
re-wrote them to include Dr Watson (Norman Shelley) with Holmes (Carleton
Hobbs).
I think everyone agrees that Holmes needs Watson, but what about Watson
without Holmes? There's a very good novel called "The Secret Diary of Dr
Watson" by Anita Janda in which Watson gives his real thoughts about working
with Holmes.
best wishes,
Jeff
