Hello to All Fans,
It was a very interesting response to my question on Baritsu, and I
greatly appreciate the comments. I have noticed that the various
levels of Canon advocates often have views on the writings less
emotional and more critical in observations on the writings of ACD.
After a bit of delving into the markers associated with a few famous
writers, I have noticed that the possibility exists that what I am
about to ask, has in fact....already been accomplished. We need to
remember.....the fans of the Great Detective have come and gone in
the span of the Canons existence. While the greater wealth of
information and critical observations have been retained in various
fan publications, not all revelations of the Canon have been
retained for the future. Clear as mud right?.....So...on to my
question/comment
States and Countries, and now famous personages of the past and
yes....writers and their characters......have markers
the State tree of Colorado, The bird of India, The flower of China
Sooooooo....what about the Canon ???
What would be the Animal of the Canon ?
The Flower of the Canon?
The Tree
Bird
Insect
Etc Etc
Has this been done in a monograph fashion? If so...by who? when?
If not, maybe some Sherlockian with a keen mind, a talent for verse,
and the time......anyway.......I feel it may have been done in a
limited manner sometime before, although I have not found it yet.
However if this was done in a scholarly fashion with footnotes and
suitable references, it could be a mark of Sherlockian reference and
noteworthy in our mentions .......anticipating a future populated
with Sherlockians yet unborn.
Regards
