Do you know how Sir Doyle formed the name'"SHERLOCK HOLMES".He was a
great admirer of Oliver Wendell Holmes,the great American writer and
Jurist,from his name came "HOLMES".Similarly,he had played against a
Yorkshire cricketer,'"SHERRINGFORD",whom Sir Doyle admired,"SHERLOCK"
could have been a corruption of SHERRINGFORD.Can members throw more
light on this subject
