Re: Maggie's Love for Holmes   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #748 of 2868 |
I started reading Sherlock Holmes stories when I was 12 years old, and loved
them.
Hounds of Baskervilles remains my favorite, but I also love The Valley of Fear.
Then too, A Study in Scarlet is still great!!! I do consider myself a Holmesian
and I'm not sure if anyone thinks that's strange or not - I don't discuss Holmes
with people who have not read the books.

My favorite story is "The Red-Headed League" followed by "The Dancing Men."
"The Five Orange Pips" I would say is my third favorite...or "The Empty House."
That's a good story!

My life would be incomplete with having met Sherlock Holmes. These books created
a love for mystery in me that is part of my life to this day - I am presently
engaged in writing a series of 14 Sister Sherlock novels myself. It's very
exciting - have been working on this project for years.

I used to have a Sherlock Holmes hat, which I wore during the winter - how I
loved that hat. I wish I still had one and have almost bought one several times,
but living in Florida, I would never wear it! I also had a Sherlock Holmes cape
that I wore for years...in colder climes, of course! I have a few canes I keep
about, and use one on occasion, in case I need a 'weapon.' LOL!!!

From Holmes I learned what canalization is and how to analyze and deduct - what
fun that was as a kid! It became a habit - I am an analytical person, which
serves me well in life. I enjoyed looking at people and figuring out things
about them from how they look, sound, their clothes, the condition of their
person...their clothes. It's very helpful. Also, I think Holmes interest in so
many things influenced me to be interested in many things, to be open to
exploring the universe, look at life as an adventure. He did not care so much
what people thought, pursued his own ideas - this is what I strive for also.
People can really hurt you if you let them...

On of my Brit netfriends told me recently that women don't usually like Holmes -
he's rather fascinated by my love for Holmes. I have no idea if women like
Holmes or not...Oh, loved, simply loved all the movies and television shows!!!
Jeremy Irons is my favorite...and Watson, what a lovable, wonderful character -
everyone needs a 'Watson' in life.

Enjoy communicating with other Holmesians, am a member of 3 Holmes groups since
I got my computer in 1998. It was one of first things I looked up on a search.
Holmes people are an interesting lot - we can be very arrogant too.
Maggie
