hi,

Last year in November , me and my friends tried to make a small
documentary on gender issues in governance in Himachal Pradesh. This we
shot with a small camcorder using tape as the medium of storage.

As we were new to the art , we later realised that there are lot of
noises in the background such as clock or telephone ringing. so i wanted
to know if there is way in which we can edit this video and filter out
all these background noise.

Also if you you suggest a software which can be used to edit the film
and to put the subtitles.

looking forward to your replies

thank you
Varun

Shimla has been in news for all the wrong reasons.

It is high time the policing in town is strengthend.. There is hardly any policing for common man... With suburbs getting bigger and bigger every year more police station needs to be opened up and proper patrolling needs to be enforced. Shimla has been a heaven for car theives and liquor smugglers in the past and now the crime scene has shifted to robbery and murders.

Situation in the Shimla district is getting bad day by day. The Kufri-Fagu belt has seen highway robberies and above all Rohru, the constituency of the present CM,  Mumabi style bhai giri is practised in full swing. Recently a Tehsildar and a press correspondant were attacked in bazaar with swords and the other day a local goon had threatend the press people to shoot them point blank. Rohru reminds me of the days of terrorism in Punjab when streets would get empty after dark.

Its high time the police enforces law and order in the district..

On a lighter note.. I have posted the pic of my lawn, clicked from the camera... on the main page

Regards..

To: Government of Himachal Pradesh
Shame on us!

This year Himachal did not have a tableau at Rajpath on Republic Day. We
tried to get an answer from the spokesperson at Himachal Bhawan. They
did not have any excuse to offer.

A few days ago only, we were talking about marketing ourselves yet there
was no presence at Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and again at the Republic
Day. Do we have nothing to showcase?

Please sign this petition and ask for some plain answers from the
Himachal Pradesh government on why Himachal's participation is not
ensured in such events.

Seize the day !

Indian vegetable exporter bags $1.7-mn US order

MUMBAI: Leading mushroom and vegetable exporter Himalya International
Ltd has bagged orders worth $1.7 million from a US food service company,
the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) informed on Monday.

"The company has kick-started the New Year by way of a huge order of 80
containers valued at $1.7 million for its canned mushrooms from a major
US food service company. The delivery schedule spans from February to
October 2006," the BSE statement said.

This order will result in the Himachal Pradesh headquartered company, a
major mushroom producer, raising its production by 50 percent compared
to the corresponding quarter of the last financial year.

The company has over 50 farmers supplying produce that are processed for
exports under a contract-farming programme for production and supply of
vegetables and mushrooms.

The company's new facility in Himachal Pradesh for mozzarella cheese
from buffalo milk in collaboration with a US-based Winona has also begun
its first phase of production.

A technical team from the foreign collaborator had visited the unit
during December 2005 to oversee the entire first phase of production.

At full capacity, the company will be processing 15 million pounds of
specialty cheese per annum valued at $25 million. The plant is also
equipped to manufacture batter and breaded appetizers, mozzarella
sticks, mushrooms, eggplants and onion rings.

The company has entered into a marketing arrangement with Artiginale
Italiano Inc. for the entire annual produce, which will be marketed in
the US.

The company has also commenced processing a 1.6 million pounds baby
potatoes order for a retail chain headquartered in Canada.

Hi friends,

I was browing the pictures in photo albums and was so happy to see beautiful views of HP clicked by different folks. Could I make a request to everyone who posts the pictures in the album to write the name of the place rather than writing the name of the photographer or giving your own personal compliment to the view or the picture. This will enable the viewer to identify the place. I have been to few places in these pictures but there are some sceneries which are so inviting that I can only make a trip if I know the names of those locations. I am living in Canada and planning visiting my family this year.

Terrorist attack on IISc

On Dec 28, 2005 an international conference under progress and being
attended by both National and International delegates from all over
the world was attacked by terrorists (numbers are still not known) at
19:30 hrs. Prof Puri was killed in the attack and other four people
were seriously injured including Prof Vijay Chandru and other
distinguished scientists. This was the n-th time (where n -->
infinity) that terrorists attacked the innocent civilians and
scientists on the Indian soil. These attacks are a coordinated effort
by Islamic jihadis, supported by some elements with vested interests
to destroy this country and its indigenous culture and civilization.
They are leaving no stone unturned to achieve their goals. To name few
of the terrorist attacks in the recent times, Bombay blasts, IC-814
hijacking, Delhi blasts, attack on Indian parliament and now attack on
IISc are few of them. Unfortunately, the Indian Government has been
totally insensitive towards these terrorist attacks which are
affecting and hampering the lives of innocent people and the progress
of the country. Instead of taking serious action against those who are
responsible for propagating these heinous ideologies, gun-culture and
human bombs, the attitude of the government is really disappointing.
On one side, government issues strong statements to fight the
terrorism, but these strong statements are not converted into action.
The government is trying to solve a 21st century problem of terrorism
and Islamic jihadism with 18th century laws (framed by british). For
IISc researchers, it is like sending a moon/mars mission with
feathers attached to the rocket to ensure its bird-like flight with no
propulsion devices. It is the time that government comes out of the
shell and vote bank politics and takes strong actions to fight this
Islamic terrorism/jihadism emanating from neighbouring countries,
otherwise, this civilization shall again perish into the darkness for
centuries. After the destruction of Takshashila and Nalanda
Universities by Islamic invaders, it took almost thousand years for
India to setup world class institutes like IISc, IITs and other
institutes of repute. The government which is responsible for standing
upto the expectations of 1 billion Indians shall take the strong
decision to save the lives of the people and these reputed institutes,
otherwise, we may have to wait for another thousand years to reach
this level of innovation and scientific culture, if we let these
Islamic jihadis to overpower us.

Simply increasing the security around these universities will not help
much. Because this will hamper the working conditions of the
scientists and obstruct the free flow of information and environment
of mutual discussion among the scientific community. Therefore we all
Scientists, researchers, engineers and scientific workers request the
govt of India to take strong decisions and convert them into actions
to prevent any future attacks and give severe punishments to all those
responsible for these terrorist attacks on Indian citizens. We hope
that govt shows a strong will power in terms of action (and not empty
rhetoric ) to fight and erradicate this dangerous ideology of Islamic
terrorism/jihadism and save this great culture and civilization of India.
