Dear All,
22nd Feb was certainly an exciting day for us in Shimla. VOH team and
volunteers came together to organise a highly successful blood
donation camp. We had lot of our old timers coming in and reconnecting
with the group. Our target was of 50 blood donations but by the end of
the day the total registrations was 90. Volunteers from our partner
organisations such as UMANG and Youth Enlightening the Society ensured
that lot of tourists who were on the Ridge also came in for blood
donations.
Around 30 volunteers were involved in managing the whole exercise over
a period of 7 days. More details and photographs will be put up soon
on HimVani.com and Vohnetwork.org
We would also like to thank our sponsors, GNG Trading Company Pvt. Ltd
and HP State AIDs Control Society for helping us in organising this
camp.
With this I would also like to congratulate the camp convener Hemlata
Verma for taking the initiative and motivating us all to be part of
it. Also a special thanks to Ajai Srivastav ji for guiding us in
organising our first ever blood donation camp. For the young
volunteers of YES, I can only say with you guys onboard YES WE CAN !

Dear All,
It has come to our notice that there is shortage of blood in various
hospitals in Shimla. To help the authorities in overcoming this
challenge Voice of Himachal Society is organising a blood donation
camp on 22nd Feb 2008 at The Ridge in Shimla. The camp will start at
10:30 in the morning.
This camp is also being supported by various VOH network organisations
such as UMANG and YES. Volunteers from VOH and partner organisations
have already started the work of mobilising donors in and around the
city.
You can contribute to this noble effort not only by donating blood but
also spreading the word about this camp and requesting your near and
dear ones to come and donate blood for the noblest of all causes.
We are looking forward to associating with more organisations and
individuals to help us mobile large number of donors. Kindly contact
us if you would like to volunteer your services in this cause.

The last date for participating in the logo design competition is
over. We are certainly surprised to see so many entries. In all we've
got 21 entries from all over India and abroad. We aren't giving out
the names of the participants yet, to be fair to all entries… except
for Akanksha, who has her name engraved all over her entries. Instead
we've marked them alphabetically, as A, B, C, D, and so on. Thanks to
all participants for taking out time to put down your thoughts in
graphics.
Please give your feedback on the same and select the logo you want for
HimVani. Feedback is open till Feb 10. We'll announce the winner on
February 14 as the new logo comes to use on that day. However, the
winner would be contacted individually before that itself.

That was not to be for me, I was asked
to be in office, since my boss was unusually polite ,so I
thought what the hell, I will be there. Amazingly, there was no usual
mara mari in the trains,
buses were relatively off time but it was ok, so I reached office,
full two hrs after leaving home. In office mein booor ho raha tha, so decided to do
what I usually do at office...time pass, no actually I searched
British libraries for old shimla pics. And this post is about that,
and not how my diwali got spoiled.
And
why British libraries, you ask...well I dont think my great grand
father or even his father ever saw a camera, it was Britishers who
had cameras thats y.
But
what I found was something I never expected.Most amazing pics of Shimla i ever have ever seen.Like this one, the
general view of shimla, I never know shimla was not mess once, I
never ever could actually get my hand on any pic of shimla where
there was no concrete jungle below mall. Or this one, near church, so
many people(all firangis) and church looks like old khander
