Hello nitu
I think comparing between the two or is more statistical systems are foolish.
Every system has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Different Fields they are using there statistical system (mostly).
Financial: SPSS
IT& Pharmacy: SAS
Quality control: Minitab
Educational: R-Programming.
R-programming is language it is approximately same as C and C++.And R is an open source. It has a main advantage is that open source. We can
see the process of the analysis. Like SPSS, SAS we can’t see the process of the data analysis. In R we can debug the function and easily we can identify where the problem is. And we can generate great graphical out puts. And the main disadvantage of R-programming is that has very hard to handle the large data.
One day I tried to apply ANOVA on data without knowing that the data is unbalanced. First I tried In R. I got unexpected results. So I tried in SPSS, SAS, and Minitab. In SPSS and SAS I got the results and they are not digestible. But Minitab throws an error that the data is unbalanced so then I realized that the data is unbalanced. Then I debugged the function I used in R. then there also I come to know the data is unbalanced. But in SPSS, SAS I
coulden’t recollect the problem. Because of these systems are not open.
Here I’m not saying that Minitab is better. It has also some disadvantages are there.
But one thing I can say that first learn R-Programming then after try to learn any another statistical systems because the programming language and statistical logic will help you a lot to learn. So try or learn to use R for analysis in graduation or in post graduation level. you can get free download for internet.
If we come to SAS the main advantage is security, adaptability. It is a multi usable. And it has Avery flexible to connect to any databases. The main feature Is Business intelligence. By using SAS we can maintain any large data warehouse also. And easy to use large data in analysis with SAS
