Dear Amy,

The main purpose of data validation before using the
model is to see whether the the sample data is true
representative of the population. If it is not, there
is considerable model risk.Though basically I am risk
modeler in financial risk management, same principal
could be extended to your case in clinical research.
It is important is to see whether the sample is true
representative of the population and there is minimum
bias. Or the model may not give true result.
