Statisticians_group : Message: SPSS Training

Hi Guys,

I can argue on the other way round, I know many hard core statistician (not all) are good in applying statistics for what ever data that you provide, without knowing what is causing what?. To give a simple example (true) sale of ice cream and level of cirme on saturdays in a particular city, there is a high +ve correlation, so ban the sale of ice-cream on saturdays. This is the kind of recommendation given by one statistician. I am not blaming all.

About statistics in MBA curriculam ( I am talking MBA schools in the Top-50 list by whatver ranking agency!!) teach hard core stats in the 1st year and they have a course on Marketing Research, where application of statistics through spss is being taught. The students who takes these courses mostly joins in MR firms and they are doing a pretty good job. Their obejective is to interpret the results in a logical manner rathern than "running the test" and stick to the results that they have obtained. I sighted an example above.

Any comments / debate (healthy) on the above are welcome!!!

Very funny ..........nowadays stat course is offered by MBA college rather hardcore stat department in university. good luck to them. dono know how well participant will learn and what they will learn. working in a analytics company i have some understanding on the level of knowledge in stat for a mba guy. they know what they are applying bt dono know even not interested to know why they are applying that. anyway goodluck

Hi Friends,

Goa Institute of Management, Goa offer a course called "Data Analytics Through SPSS" for their MBA Students. The duration of the course is 14 Sessions of 90 minutes each. This course will be held 2 sessions per week.

The time may not suits to people working in the organsation. So, we in Goa Institute of Management is organising during the month of October 2008, a three day intensive training programme at our campus in Goa on the same topic, "Data Analytics Through SPSS". A similar kind of programme was organised during April 2008 and response rate was overwhelming and there is a consistent demand for this training programme from the industry (BPO / KPO / Banks / Inusrance / Marketing Research Companies / Data Analysts ) so, again we are repeating the same programme during October 2008. Exact date and fees will be informed shortly. The resources persons for this programme are the Senior Statisticans from SPSS. I am the course co-ordinator.
