This is so very annoying. You will be surprized from my latest experience. I
went to PC World, the biggest computer retailer here in the UK and asked the
customer care rep attending me and showing me around the laptops that I want the
machine minus the OS. He started laughing (as if at at my apparent ignorance to
some universal fact) and told me that the computer will be of no use and will
not run without the OS. I felt like telling him "Oh, I didn't know that" and
walk out instead of banging my head on the wall uselessly. These reps usually
are technically not that sound and are able to charm most of the customers by
the fancy talk they do out the OS it has. I however told him that I will install
Linux instead and he was blank. He said what ever I do, the laptop will come
with OS and nothing can be done about it. What a shame.
