That's the correct analysis. The trouble with kernel specific binaries. But I
was able to finally solve the problem, in a different fashion altogether.
Someone told me that there is a printer made by Samsung which has about the same
specifications. Based on that lead I googled the web and found out a printer
much similar to this one by Xerox. This was Samsung ML-6040. Looked pretty much
same as well. Next I looked for this printer in the mandriva's 'Printerdrake'
database. And to my relief, the printer was listed. I simply used this
printer's drivers for my xerox. It worked ! And worked perfectly well. I am
really happy. So in a way I fooled my system in thinking that I am using the
Samsung printer instead of Xerox :-)
Cool isn't it.
