Hi Himanshu,

First of all CONGTARTLATIONS on getting your new laptop. I am sure you will be
very satisfied with AMD Sempron processor. My laptop uses the same as well. I am
sure you must be loving the power profiles. I love the processor throttling that
saves a lot of battery power and let my laptop run cooler. I am on Sempron
processor for the last one year now and am very satisfied.

The problem that you are facing with laptop battery status looks similar to what
I am facing as well. And I am sure you must be on Mandriva 2006. Because I feel
that this is a problem with this particulat version of Mandriva. I was earlier
on Mandriva LE 2005, and never had an issue of this kind. Nor was this a problem
with Kubuntu, Ubuntu, SuSE, Linspire or what ever distro I ever tried on this
laptop. So the problem definitely is not due to some battery querying demon etc.
I have noticed that this problem occurs only after the screensaver has displayed
for a while. After which when I try to resume my work I find the 'battery status
monitor' on panel missing. Disabeling the screensaver option solved the problem
for me. Put this is a temporary solution only. Is it the same problem what you
are experiencing or is it something else. Please elaborate.

As I said disabling screensaver is not the solution, but I am trying to work out
what else can be done.

BTW, what are the specs of your laptop. And you can read this little review that
will throw some light on Mobile Sempron processor as well here:

I would suggest that you submit a similar review as well.

Cheers,
-Tarun
