Try installing Mandriva 2005 or 2006. Most of the time this distribution seems to work. Except a few things here and there.
I am still unable to get my battery status working properly. Rest all is absolutely fine. Dr. Tarun is also using the same distribution.
He absolutely has no problem either. But the thing is both of us are using Acer laptops.
I would suggest that you do give a try to Mandriva distribution.
