NEW DELHI: IBM India on Monday announced the launch of its Linux
desktop in India targeting the small and medium businesses, home
offices in the non-metro cities.
The desktop IBM NetVista A30 model, which the company said is
India's first Linux certified desktop, is priced at Rs 39,900,
exclusive of taxes and will be available in cities like Indore,
Raipur, Lucknow, Patna, Nagpur and Bhopal among others, a
company release said here.
"It is for the first time that a commercial desktop vendor has
introduced an entry level desktop that is certified on Linux",
Alok Ohrie, vice president, Personal Computing Division, IBM
India, said.
The new IBM Linux desktop aims to support the business
requirements of the SOHO and SME segments in non-metro areas, he
said.
