Microsoft to share Office source code
Microsoft on Monday offered more than 60 governments the key to its Office
desktop suite as the world's leading software maker faces growing competition
from open-source rivals such as Linux. In a statement on its website, Microsoft
Corporation said it would share its source code to the Microsoft Office 2003,
which includes Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheet applications, as part of its
Government Security Program.
