hi there, i too faced(am facing) the same problem.
according to my opinion, there are two solutions to it,
1) Get on with ALSA drivers(google for more info on them)
2) it works for me, there is this sound detection tool in your GUI i
use KDE so K>Sound&Multimedia>SoundcardDetection it takes about a
minute to play the guitar strings, after that it works fine... so its
ok for me.
try them out and then post back!
