sir,
 I need help for the understanding the development process in embedded system . I want to know the exact steps taking place during the BOOTING process as well as to know:
1. How to cross compile tool chain in host PC.
2. where linux kernel image is find in file system
3. while booting, what is present in the flash and  what is there in the RAM
4. what is download utility ,how it works ,specify name if any.
 
hoping that i will get the solution from someone.

Hi Did you try "eject" command? umount has two other options -f "force" -l "Lazy" Plz look man pages....

Rajeev, As Himanshu said, soft-modems or winmodems are not natively supported by most Linux versions. You are using Mandrake 10.1 which is very old now....
