Re: [andamanicobar] Canal linking Andaman Sea to the Gulf of Thailand sought

Hi,
I think this is a case of overreacting. After all if you wnat to link the
Andaman Sea to Tahi
gulf, you need to cut across countries which are not included in the appeal.
I do not think, Jarawas would suffer because of such a link. The real loser
would be the entrepot
trade centres in Malay peninusla and Indonesian Islands. So we can rely on them
to shoot this
down.

I also wonder if it would really save 1500 Km.

Let us not lose sight of reality in our reactions to news items.
sincerely
devi

So we wish to reduce the globe to a monocultural point source and sink! All
Jarawas become Jawahars
at one go! All tribes become one with the other sames.

Canal linking Andaman Sea to the Gulf of Thailand sought

By Our Staff Reporter

Pondicherry Nov. 2. The Dravida Peravai has appealed to the Prime Minister, A.B.
Vajpayee, and his
Thailand counterpart, Thaksin Shinawatra, to construct a canal linking the
Andaman Sea and the Gulf
of Thailand to cut short the distance to eastern ports in Japan and China by
1,500 nautical miles.

In a press release here, N. Nandivarman, general secretary, said the canal would
be an extension of
the Tenth Degree channel in between Andaman and Nicobar islands.

The canal would not only boost the economy of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands but
would also benefit
Haldia, Paradeep, Visakapatnam, Chennai and Tuticorin ports.
