Hi,
Just wanted to share something. I had been to BR hills the other day and on
the way, we happened to drop in at the office of Jungle Lodges. I noticed an
infant elephant(6 months) tied down and left for entertainment for the
people who came to visit the place.. It was a disturbing sight to see the
baby elephant which was ofcourse not happy with all the attention it was
getting and the flash lights.
I talked to some people there and they said this elephant was captured after
it lost its parents. But i wonder.. cant we provide it a better lifestyle.
cant it go back to the wild. I understand that elephants usually dont accept
other elephants that are not part of its family. Can we have some expert
comments on this...
Regards
Sunil

On the subject of elephants and their care, Thailand, yet again, seems
to be much further along then India is. There is an elephant hospital
that has been established to diagnose and treat elephants and their
various ailments, both the common ones that elephants have as well as
those that have come about as a result of elephants working in various
capacities. You can read more about it at this site.
