Two fishermen killed by hostile Sentinelese tribe in Andaman
Port Blair, Jan 31:
Two fishermen were killed by the Sentinelese, the only hostile
primitive tribe of Andaman and Nicobar islands, at Sentinel island,
DIG Coast Guard, A and N region S P Basra said here today.
The two fishermen, Sunder Raj (48) and Pandit Tiwari (52), went for
fishing near the Sentinel island on January 25.
When they did not return, their family members reported the matter to
the police, who requested the Coast Guard to search for the two.
During search operation in a helicopter, Coast Guard personnel found
the bodies lying on the shore of Sentinel Island on January 27.
However, they could not land there as a large number of Sentinelese
tribals, armed with bows and arrows, were keeping watch, the Coast
Guard DIG said.
The bodies were yet to be recovered from the island.
