Dos & Don'ts for travelers on ATR in Jarawa area

The Administration has cautioned the travelers on Andaman Trunk Road, Jarawa
sector from indulging in photography, videography neither in Jarawa reserves nor
of Jarawas
as indulging in such activity will attract stringent action against the
violators. The caution has
come following reports of indulgence of travelers in certain activities, which
is against the rules
and regulations framed for entering Jarawa area.
Since the Jarawas are one of the primitive tribes of A&N Islands and not to be
promoted as tourist attraction they should not allow the Jarawas to get into
their vehicles
while passing through Jarawa area nor stop their vehicles in the area. The
commuters have
also been warned from giving any items eatable, clothes etc to the tribes.
Apart from this, the vehicle drivers have been asked to drive their vehicles
carefully
and only in a convoy since solitary driving risk their life and property. They
have also been
asked not to enter tribal reserve forest without valid permit under the law.
Tour operators have also been cautioned against charging money for taking
tourists to
Jarawa areas. The operators have been asked to refrain from such type of tours
or else will
attract penal action as per law.
