Pasted below is the response received to the March 7 application made to the
Administration under the RTI regarding tourism projects in the islands.
Samir Acharya of SANE has pointed out that response was received only in May ,
two months after the application was sent, while the stipulated time is 30
days. This too after repeated reminders and complaints.

With reference to your letter dated No. Nil dated 7th March 2006 regarding
the information under the Right to Information Act 2005 pertaining to the
Administration's proposal for leasing islands to promote tourism in the
Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the information is as below:
1. List of islands that have been proposed, indicating their locations.*
The matter at present is with Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs in the
form of draft cabinet note. Therefore, the details as asked for cannot be
provided under section 8(1) of clause (i) of RTI Act 2005. However the
Directorate of IP&T has certain areas. The details are as under:
