Port Blair, Jan. 27:
Polythene carry bags, mineral water and soft drink bottle, plastic cups and
plates are dangerous and a threat to environment and ecology, and Prof. Ram
Kapse. The LG added that the Environmental Protection Act has been
implemented in these islands and for its complete implementation, the full
cooperation of public was a must. "We have decided to stop the use of
dangerous plastics from today", said the Lt. Governor in his RD address
yesterday and called upon the islanders to support the administration in
making the A&N islands a 'Plastic Free Zone'. Cloth, paper and jute could be
the best substitute to keep our islands' environment free of plastic menace
said Prof. kapse.

If it is really true and people abide by the ban it is great. But what about the rest of the country ? Even if not a complete ban there should be more...
