Workshop on disaster management & bomb threat management inaugurated

A two-day workshop on Disaster Management & Bomb Threat Management
organized by the A&N Police Department was inaugurated by Shri Sandeep Goel,
DIGP (Intelligence) today at the Integrated Training Complex, Police Lines.
The course is being attended by SHOs of various Police Stations, incharge of
Police Out Posts and Fire Stations and other officers of different units of
the A & N Police Department,including IRBn.
In the inaugural ceremony, the DIGP(Intelligence) Shri. Goel urged the
participants to sensitize each and every member of their respective stations
and units to gear up to face any unforeseen challenge in future and to
remain ever ready for any eventuality. He said, "we must learn lessons from
the disaster response in other parts of the world and incorporate the good
features in our responses. Police as first responders have a great role to
play and preparedness is the fist step to carry out successful gamut of
operations including search and rescue, law and order management, traffic
management, registration of missing reports and cases, security of property,
etc. The brave acts of our jawans and officers during the recent Tsunami are
a pointer to the strong will-power and dedication of A & N Police to the
service of the people.
The guest lecturers on the occasion included Shri T. Sreekant, SDM/South
Andaman and Dr. S.K. Paul, Dy. Dir(Health). The valedictory function
tomorrow will be chaired by Shri Taj Hassan, DIGP(Law & Order). The workshop
is being co-ordinated by Vikram K. Porwal, Dy.SP, South Andaman, who is also
the Nodal officer for Disaster Management for Police Department.
