Six-day workshop on disaster management for police personnels begins

A six-day Training Course on Disaster Management got underway today at
Integrated Training Complex, Police Lines with its inauguration by
DIG/Intelligence, Shri Sandeep Goel. Addressing the police personnels, Shri
Goel stressed the need for on conducting regular mock-drills at police
station level to check and improve the quality and promptness of response.
He also emphasized on keeping the disaster related equipments in readiness
for use and to arrange regular training of police forces in this direction.
The course began with a presentation on the Disaster Management Plan of
A&N Police by Dy.S P Shri Vikram K. Porwal (Nodal officer). The Course is
being conducted by SI S.K. Vishnoi (Fire Service) who recently attended a
two-month course on 'Training of Trainers for Disaster Management' at
National Industrial Security Academy (NISA), CISF, Hyderabad and where he
stood first among all the participants. The Training include MFR (Medical
First Response) and CSSR (Collapsed structure search and Rescue) modules,
which are very relevant in the highly seismic zone of A&N islands.
The training will have special emphasis on search and rescue operations
involving entry into collapsed structures for the purpose of extricating the
victims while ensuring safety of rescuers as well as victim. The training
will also include capsule course on trauma, medical emergency and
pre-hospital treatment of various fractures and deformities and other basic
life support systems.
