New PCCF assumes Charge

Port Blair, Mar 28: Mr SR Mehta, IFS has assumed charge of Principal Chief
Conservator of Forests / Secretary (Environment and Forests), Secretary
(Science and Technology) and Chairman Pollution Control Board in the
afternoon on 23rd March 2004 in place of Mr. SS Patnaik, IFS, who has
proceeded on deputation to the post of Additional Director General of
Forests in the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India. Mr. SR
Mehta is an IFS officer of the 1969 batch and has served in these islands
earlier as DCF in 1970s and as PCCF during 1997-98.
