Re: [andamanicobar] RU prof in tribe-hunt team

I am always amazed by the attention any foreign 'intervention' generates in
India. Nobody has mistreated our indigenous peoples as we Indians have. We have
stripped them of their traditional identity, land, livelihood and dignity in the
name of 'national interest' and reduced them to the state they are today.

It is time we stopped being hypocrites.

Anand

You are so right, Lotika and Manish.
The "camera toting journalists" and ethnographers will flood the island to prove
to the world that the tribes have not quite seen the "Light of Civilisation. "
This will justify all national and International development
schemes to pull the tribes into the MAINSTREAM OF
SYPHILISATION. Some Anthropologists  will argue for keeping them
in the island zoo for  the world to watch and enjoy and
learn about our Contemporary Ancestors. And everyone will  gloat
over how far we have progressed in the course of development!

I agree completely with Lotika, soon there will be a profile of tribal community
to suit our tastes....may get a few bones between their noses and do a fire
dance or bamboo chops to delight our senses, and create some perception of what
it is to be tribal..then there will be..... so on and so forth......why arent
the big dams and loss of forest in that region recieving as much attention?..
well theyre not quite as exciting i suppose..... .is there a plan to all the
media attention, or will there soon be a flood of camera toting journalists
vying with each other for aajtak or kal thak to tell us what we missed out on
