CHENNAI: The Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has launched
four projects to tackle drinking water scarcity.
Increasing the height of Dhanikari dam, the main source of drinking
water for Port Blair and adjoining areas and constructing a dam at
Kamsarat Nallah are two of the projects.
The other two initiatives are for transporting water from Rutland Island
to Dhanikari reservoir and to create a Sweet Water Lake at Sippighat.
These projects were initiated by Bhopinder Singh, Lieutenant Governor of
Andaman and Nicobar, a release from the Lieutenant Governor’s office said.
