There are 'n' number of hotels in Shimla. The hotels on the Mall Road
are quite costly, that is, above Rs.600 and hotels on the Ridge too
have tariff upto Rs.600 onwards. The hotel near the other end of the
mall road, that is, near the lift are very costly (Tariff: Rs.2000/-
onwards).

Budget options are:

Hotel Vikrant (Near Bus Stand) Tariff=Rs.400/- (I have personal
experience about this hotel, so I am recommending?

Hotel Holiday Home (Government Hotel) Slightly away from the Mall
Road has the lowest rate = Rs.700/- (the rooms are in the backside.
No Ventilation). Front rooms = Rs.1500/- onwards)

Another option is YMCA Guest House on the Ridge (Behind the Church).
It has rooms for Rs.250/- No attached bathroom. Food in the separate
hall. Very very neat and clean atmosphere. Everything on timing.

Beware of coolies who will take you to the best hotels according to
them, but, end you anywhere with very very high rate hotels.
