SHIMLA: The higher reaches of the Kullu valley experienced heavy
snowfall on Friday and rain lashed Shimla bringing the temperature down.
Heavy snowfall was reported in the higher reaches of the Kullu valley,
including the picturesque town of Manali, since Friday morning.
A report from Manali said the intensity of snowfall was heavy in
Rohtang Pass which recorded more than two feet of snow.
Accumulation of snow resulted in closure of the road to Lahual and
Spiti, the report said, adding that lower areas of Kullu and Manali
experienced rain in the day. A downpour in Shimla caused the
temperature to drop by almost 5 degree Celsius. The Himachal capital
had a maximum day temperature of 10.1 degrees C in comparison to 15.4
C on Thursday, met office sources said. The weatherman has forecast
rain and snow at isolated places in the hill State in the next 24 hours.
