HRTC to connect small villages
The Tribune
Kangra, January 15
Himachal Pradesh transport minister Kishen Kapoor said despite a
financial crunch in the HRTC all small hamlets would be connected by
HRTC services in order to provide better transport facilities.
Kapoor was talking to the mediapersons in the Bajjreshwari temple
after paying obeisance there along with his family. He said the HRTC
was in bad shape and buses, which should have been off the road after
covering 7 lakh km were still in service even after covering 12 to 13
lakh km. It was unfortunate that common people were travelling in
risky buses.
He said there had been no replacement of the buses in the HRTC fleet
during the past five years and within the HRTC's limited resources it
would make efforts to replace the outdated ones.
He said the apex court decision on the recommendations of the Central
empowerment committee regarding the controversial BOT bus stand of
McLeodganj would be implemented in letter and spirit.
He said action would be taken against the HRTC officials found guilty
in the removal of the foundation stone of the Kangra bus stand which
mentioned the name of the then Chief Minister Shanta Kumar.
