The state government will honour Dalip Singh Rana, popular as "The
Great Khali", on Tuesday for bringing good name to the state.
He will be honoured at a function at Nahan, the district headquarters
of Khali's native Sirmaur district, sources in the Chief Minister's
office said here today.
PWD minister Gulab Singh Thakur would honour Khali on behalf of the
Chief Minister as he would be busy in connection with the Hamirpur
byelection slated for Thursday, sources said.
The family and natives of Khali's Dhiraina village under Shillai
tehsil of Sirmaur district are eagerly awaiting his arrival on May
21. Many social groups at Nahan are also planning similar receptions
at Paonta, Kamrou, Kafota and Shillai en route to Dhiraina village
from Nahan on that day.
"All of us are eagerly waiting for his arrival," Khali's elder
brother Bhagat Singh Rana said on phone from his village. — PTI
