SHIMLA: More than 5,850 polio booths are to be set up to cover 7.24
lakh children in the 0-to-5-years age group across the Himachal
Pradesh under the Pulse Polio Immunisation Campaign.
Announcing this here on Thursday, State Chief Secretary Asha Swaroop
said the campaign would be taken up in two phases -- in Round I on
December 28 and in Round II on February 1, 2009. "Nearly 46,000
workers from various government departments will be involved besides
various NGOs," said Ms. Swaroop.
The Chief Secretary said that besides undertaking an aggressive
campaign to administer polio drops, the left-out children would be
covered by booths, mobile teams and house-to-house activity on the
subsequent second and third days to cover every child in the State.
She urged all government departments, NGOs, Panchayati Raj
institutions, and other social workers to come forward and make this
campaign a big success.
